exactly what rights? I'm certainly not advocating giving up any rights. I don't think its a "right" to be able to spend your welfare or unemployment on drugs do you?
This is NOT about welfare, it is about unemployment, and is 100% wrong. When you collect unemployment you are getting back money that YOU paid into unemployment, it is not a handout, and is why it runs out. Would you want to take a UA to get your tax refund?

On that note, I also fully support drug testing for for welfare.

Thats not true John. Your employer pays for unemployment insurance. Not you.

So, when you collect unemployment, you are basically getting payments from an employment insurance plan your employer paid for you in the state you reside in.

Even so it is still not a government hand-out. It was money paid in the event that you lost your job, and is usually dependent upon you seeking new employment, and isn't open-ended like welfare. As far as I am concerned it is just another cost of doing business that could be translated to high wages, not that if employers didn't have to pay it they would pay their employees more, but theoritically it is money that you could be making.

Its both state and fed law that employers pay unemployment insurance for their employees.

Its not a negotiable issue John.

Where did I say it is negotiable Dennis? Maybe if you weren't forced to pay unemployment, you wouldn't offer your employees more money, but there are those that would.

I may have misunderstood John.

Well, as mentioned, its not negotiable.

I suppose, if it was, maybe I could pay my employees more. But, to be honest, I doubt it.

Could/would at least you're honest, as long as it is realized that unemployment isn't a government handout, and is derived from funds specifically paid in the event of an employee losing their job, therefore making it completely different than welfare. If unemployment was a taxpayer funded government freebie to the unemployed than I would be all for UAing the applicants.

hi

My issue isnt with unemployment due to laid off/economy...Sometimes that is beyond a person's control.

My issue is with welfare/SSDI, etc. I can name five people off the top of my head who are on welfare/SSDI who CAN work, but are too proud to go out and take a 8/hr job for the time being so they can sit at home and "dream" about wealth and "waking up rich" , trying different business avenues in pursuit of what will not happen. I can guarantee those same people will be in the exact same precament ten years from now (because those are the same people who HAVE BEEN in this exact position for the last 5-10 years ) and they are TOO BLIND to see that or are just lying to themselves..

Crash-Prone and overcoming it!!!
