I finally got Phoenix to try. Got it working but there is one strange thing - switching to throttle hold slows down the rotor in unrealistic way (for 450SE at least).

I have proper pitch and throttle curves for all modes and when I hit TH in Reflex XTR or on my real Trex450 at 1-2ft from the ground I get a nice smooth slowdown and landing, especially if you raise collective a bit. In Phoenix the heli drops like a rock from 2ft.

I made an experiment in Phoenix - set 450SE rotor inertia to a whooping 1.0 and motor power to 1kW. It took like 30sec to spool-up with these parameters. But after I hit throttle hold the rotor speed dropped in just few seconds (as if there is a 10kW stopping force applied to it) and the heli again dropped like a rock.

Mind you - I double checked TX curves looking at phoenix controller display bars - everything looks peachy in all modes.

One more data point - for test purposes I changed throttle hold pitch curve to flat 100% (confirmed by controller bar display). When switching from normal to throttle hold mode the pitch now goes instantaneously to the max positive pitch. In real model and XTR that would cause instant bump up before descend. Nothing like that in Phoenix - the heli drops down at the same rate. Either I am doing something radically wrong or it is a bug.

Ok, I am getting somewhere - when I turn on the flight info window it shows collective at steady -4 in throttle hold mode. Yet control bars within phoenix show correct movement of TX sticks. I guess the problem is somewhere in default channel assignment. I am using Airtronics/Sanwa TX and set the sim to proper radio but apparently something is wrong there.

Solved ! Default channel assignment for throttle/gov and pitch by Phoenix for Airtronics/Sanwa is incorrect. Changed throttle/gov to 3 and pitch to 6 manually. Now everything looks good.

Thanks for standing by ;-)

See, talking to oneself is not a bad thing.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.
