Synergy gets my vote: Fewer parts count for assembly and crash replacement. And for a fact there are more dealers in the US stocking Synergy parts than Aurora parts. You might ask those who indicated that Aurora parts are readily available where the complete kit is available in the US. To my knowledge there have been no kits available for the past few months.

Problems ? -- Mine are flown in fresh daily

I've owned both and they both have positives and negatives. The Synergy was easier to work on most of the time. The engine alignment procedure on the Synergy is a pain but that's it. Everything else is a breeze. Most parts are reasonable. The only ones really out of line are the gears.

The Aurora looks great but really requires dedication during the build. There are alot more parts. I think the engine mount alone is something like 20 screws. The QC was hit or miss in the beginning when I had mine. They haven't been released in the U.S. since last summer so no one knows for sure if this has been corrected. The gear meash is essential on this machine and needs to be perfect or you risk stripping gears in flight. Getting the mesh correct can be time consuming and was a real PITA.

One thing I really hated was the torque tube. It was way too thin and soft. It was very easy to tweak it when sliding it into the boom. It tends to get damaged in a good ground tail strike. I heard Augusto explain that it was designed this way to minimize damage to the gears since replacing gears would require the mesh seup. I would rather have something I can see and not have to worry about after every tail strike.

Between the 2 I would go with the Synergy if I was in the market again. It seems to hold up to abuse better and has a better network of dealers. You can't go wrong with either just be aware the Aurora requires much more attention to detail to get the most out of it. The Aurora is great if your into the smackdown style of 3D. It's lightweight and the cyclics can me made insanely fast. The Synergy can do smackdown but the extra weight hurts it. The Synergy really shines in the big open air manuevers and is ridiculously fast in both forward and backward flight.

Both Helis seem to fly awesome. I have a preference for the Synergy, since in my area, more people fly the Synergy. I like how it can be the smoothest flying Heli, but also be really aggressive. Watching a Synergy fly, it just looks... natural.

I wish I had some Avant Aurora videos to compare to but I don't. Here are a couple Synergy ones though.

I immensely respect cdrking so whatever advice he gave I would go with!

I beleive I was the first to call them "shavers" a few years ago and it kinda stuck. and yes shavers are more powerfull today but lipos still suck and after 30 - 40 flights the lipo has lost its punch. but at least the price has gone down. give me a nitro 90 and I will be happy for ever.

If I had to pick, I'd go N9 for reasons listed above.

Mikado Logo 400, hopefully ready by spring.
