I have been using a TP2100 in my 9z for ages with perfect results. I would like to do the same with my new 9303 i just bought, however, it states specifically in the manual to stay away from using a lipo. has anyone tried this?

my buddy uses a konk lipo in his 9303 2,4 with no issues, however he doesn't charge it fully. But he never has to charge the thing, maybe every 2 weeks.

I have a 2500 lipo in mine. Been that way since it was new. Charge it every two months, whether it needs it or not....

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..

I used a diode from an Align 5.1v step down to reduce voltage to an acceptable level. I just soldered it inline with the pos lead. works great, no worries about over working the internal regulator.

"it states specifically in the manual to stay away from using a lipo."

What don't you understand about the above?
Do you imagine the smart and intelligent folks who designed and built this equipment just put these instructions in their manual for some inane or adverse reason?

No, they put it in because JR dont sell lipos.

discharger, if they were "smart" they would have uncluded the lipo/li-ion in the first place.

What spencer said,

And they would have put not one, but two diodes in line with it.

Hey, Can they steal my idea?

Will I get royalites?

Or has some else already got a patent out?

I've never seen a linear regulator that could accept 6V but not 8.4. THere is a potential issue for overheating the regulator though since linear regulators (like linear/non-switching BECs) generate more heat as the input voltage rises for the same output current since they have more excess voltage energy to burn off as heat.

How close is the TX regulator to the limits? I dunno.

if it states it in the manual, it will probably void any warranty that might be on the radio.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
