I have a Falcon 400. I dindt like the plastic blade grips as they were not tight on the bearings. I upgraded to the alluminum ones from the pro version but the linkages end up on quite an angle. At first I was not going to use them because everyone says that 90 degrees is a must for all linkages. Makes sense to me. But after checking pics of the pro version online, I saw that they are on an angle too. So I have installed the blade grips with the linkages on the angle. The heli works quite nice ( as well as it can for a newbie I guess ). But I am still thinking that this should not be like this.

I hope this upload works, but here is a pic of the pro version. you can see the angle by looking at the ball joint. Note that on mine it is on a little more of an angle.

The 90degrees is off your SERVO horn or wheel.

So to clarify, the 90 degrees that everyone talks about does not relate to the linkages in the rotor head? But I assume that the straighter the better, right?

Imagine a line on your servo wheel going from the center screw to your Ball link, linkage needs to be 90 to this line. As for level (assuming 0 degrees pitch at half stick...and adjusting at half stick), all mixing arms and flybar cage should be level, and your blades 0 degrees pitch.
If the above pic is at Half stick (pitch) is how your setup should look.

I think I am not explaining the question related to the pic very well. In the picthe linkages that are connected to the blade grips are not traight up and down. They go from where they are connected to the piece on the flybar, and then angle back towards the opposite blade, then connecting to the blade grip ball link. I will draw a pic in AutoCAD.

Here is a drawing of what I mean. The is situated as if you are looking on end with the flybar.

Once you get above the outer swash plate no need to worry about the 90 degrees, just binding and equal lengths on the linkage.

My bad, let me add to that! In the case that you have shown, both angles the same. Any time you end up on an angle (common with bigger machines) as long as both ends of the linkage are at the same angle you are king
