I finally got my Rave in the air Sunday for the first time in having it for a few months. I was waiting on some parts too. Had a lot of work to do. Anyway, Sat afternoon, I spent the day soldering and setting up. Sunday morning I took it for my first flight and Holy Crap, I did not even had to trim it AT ALL. lol. It was as stable the Vibe 50 I had. I can't believe how nice this heli is. The T-rex 450 is a turd compared to this. Jay, you were right, it blows away the miniTitan. Not even in the same league! I hate to say this, but it is true. The Rave is just awesome. It flys so nice. I did not even touch on the power, I have mine setup with some woodies, but I ran 8 packs through it on 3s with perfect stable flights.

I was told I would get some ocilations...etc @2400 HS, nope, flyes excellent. In fact, this would be a great first heli at that HS. I have motor and ESC for 4s setup, which I will switch to in a few weeks. So right now I am running a Castle 45 with CC Bec -10 motor with a 13T pinion giving me about 2400 - 2500HS with some Epoxied 3.00 woodes. Nice sport flying. Could use a bit more power, but it is a fast heli even at that HS. I can't wait to jump up the HS. I got a few sets of 350mm blades waiting. I have to sell off all my helis, but this one is the one that is staying. Going to get some more parts stock and fly the crap out of it. What a blast. I love it.

Good Lord is this thing fun. And I have not even touched the power. I am a bit afraid with my eyes giving me problems to set it off on 4s, so I will take it easy for a while on 3s. I have everything I need already on the heli or in a box, so I'm set. I am actually flying with 340mm blades

I hope Curtis and company put out a similar case to the T-rex that holds radio heli bats, tools etc. That would be perfect. I have a feeling they will as I would think it would be profitable.

Carbon,

did you tac the head? Because you are probably running more headspeed than that. Don't for get the main gear is 177 and not 150 like the trex 450.

Result: 4S 13 Tooth, Scorpion 10, 177 main gear

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voltage for this calculation (min):3,441/cell with a total of 13,764
Nominal voltage: Spoolup RPM 100% throttle no governor (14,8v): 3261
Avg RPM you will see with 100% throttle and no governor: 2990

Max normal bogging applied you will see RPM at: 2578
(this number should be the minimum if your motor & battery is up for the challenge)

Spoolup with Governor @ 65%: 2628
Spoolup with Governor @ 75%: 2787
Spoolup with Governor @ 85%: 2946

hehe I tell no fibs Carbon =D

It really is all that and a bag of chips..
the Rave is the most impressive "small heli" out there.. (notice I refuse to call it a 450 anymore) =P

Yes Jay, it is best small heli for sure.

**dhoffack --Thank you, but although I have the -10 motor and capable ESC, I am flying my 3s batteries. I do have the 4s, but I do not want to use those with the woodies. I have a few sets of 340mm woodies I was wanting to play with until I bump up to 4s and I'll use my carbons.

I do not have a HS tach or anything, but using a HS calculator, with 3s 3000k (-10) motor, and 13T pinion, it is somewhere near 2400 - 2500 HS What do you think?

Carbon,

How does it compare to your Protos? I just ordered a Rave but I'm worried since I have issues seeing 450's. I sold the Protos because I had orientation issues with it. I'm planning on the 4s setup with Radix 350's and the Scorpion -10 motor.

Gscott. its really close to the size of the Protos. but our canopy seems alot bigger when put next to each other.
its a small heli but it is quite large in the sky thanks to the oversized canopy.

Glad to hear you're loving it, CC. I dig the hell out of my Rave, and echo your sentiments about how it flies compared to the Trex and MT. I haven't flown my MT in weeks, and my Rex in months.

Last time I flew the MT, it was because I stupidly rubbed through a battery wire on the Rave caused by bad battery placement and shoddy wiring placement. I will say, when I was having problems with the Rave, the MT was there like a faithful hound to back me up

I may get rid of the Trex, but I won't sell the MT. She's been to good to me, and has taken far too much abuse hehe.

As for visibility, the guppy canopy is quite a bit easier to see than other 450s, especially the stock orange one, but it's not as big as the Protos canopy, I don't think. Interested in seeing how that works out for you GScott. And 4s, -10, and 350s are the WAY TO GO! So much better than 325's and 3s it's ridiculous. This bird should've never shipped with 325s, IMHO.

Hehe... everyone thought I was a tad overzealous about this bird.. I just wish all the non believers could fly one just once.. its like crack once you do.. and you gotta have one..

Its funny though people that were once its just another 450.. then they fly it.. they are like.. HOLY SHEEEEEET...

Totally. I don't know what it is, whether it's the overslung flybar, or the torque tube, or what, but it really is in a class of its own. It doesn't seem that mechanically different than other 450s, barring the TT, but you'd never come to that conclusion from the way it flies.
