Hello,
I switched my fuel line out the other day and reseated both plugs, the one that has a fuel line in it and the flat plug. The flat plug now leaks like crazy. I looked to see if I can by one but you have to buy the whole fuel tank. What is the best way to fix this?
Thanks
Joe

You could run a bead of CA around it.

use a 600n plug and nipple or drill a hole in the center of the plug a install a nipple with a jamb nut or a screw and nut, tightening the nut will expand the plug.

You can try and add an o-ring to seal it.

Clean the tank well with alcohol and use Zap-a-dap-a-goo, let dry 12 hours.

I just flew my Trex 700 for the fist time and the center flat plug is leaking fuel VERY bad,do you think putting CA around the plug like someone said will stop it from leaking? I wanted to get some more flights on it but it was leaking so bad i could not fly it any more. Do they offer a tank without the center plug? This has to be the worst design i have ever seen. Let me say one thing though it is one awesome flying heli. I tought it might be the muffler but it can't be the muffler because it is leaking way to bad for it to be the muffler. I can see the fuel driping out as i'm hovering the heli.

Thanks for any help

I bit the bullet and used 30Min epoxy. It seems to be holding so far.

Will i have to pull the plug to use the epoxy? How is the best way to get back to this plug so i can work on it? This plug leaking make me very very mad as everything else went smooth as silt.

Thanks guys

Lonewolf,i have a box of orings i got from harbor freight but there all on the thick side,do you think one of them might work?

If you epoxy you will have to pull the tank. I did pull the plug and put epoxy around the plug and then put the plug back in and added more around the edge.

I tried another method and so far it seems to be working. I took the plug out and drilled a 3/32 hole in the center of the plug and put a small washer up in the hole and then i put a short 3mm bolt thru the washer and plug with another washer and a nut on the outside. I put the plug back in and took a bike tire pump and pumped air in the tank and i pinched of the pressure line and the fuel line and sprayed windex on the plug. It was still leaking VERY bad,i kept tightening the bolt until i could hear nor air leak and when i sprayed windex on it it did not bubble. So far it been sitting a while plugged off and it's holding pressure so i think that will work. If it starts to leak when i fly it again i will tighten the bolt some more. I even put a brand new plug that i had in it and it leaked worse with the new plug than the first one i had in it. I have to say that Align got it wrong on this design.
Thanks for the help guys and i will let you know how it goes.

Thanks

Where did you get the oring from? I have a big box of orings and all mine are 3/32 thick, i put one on my plug and looked at it and theres no way i could have got it to lock in one the inside of the tank with that thick oring on the outside of the plug. I will try the oring method if what i did does not hold up,but where cane you get a thin oring from?

Thanks for the replys

mine leaked and I swapped it from the outer hole to the center hole. So now my pickup is on the outer hole and has had no issues. I run the clunk line a little longer and it doesn't get hung up in the tank.
The blanking plug does not leak on the inner hole.

The 3mm screw with nut works well, I'm running a 91 CSPEC w/ cline mod and viper head, talk about preasure, I used a servo wheel cut down, just to save the center, inserted a 3mm nylon lock nut in where the splines are, this hold the nut very well when tightening the screw. also the thickness in the wall of the tank are different thickness, outside wall is thicker that is why the clunk line fits well on the outside hole. O' yes a one hole tank would be great, that hole in the middle is hard to service a clunk line.

I used some blue rtv around it to solve the problem. You should pressure test it after to make sure it's a good seal. Even after the rtv the pressure test revealed that it need a second coat in some places.
