Hi,

I've put 8-10 flights on my Rave and about 3 flights back it started to spaz out and lurch all over the place like there was some kind of lockout symptom although im using FASST 2.4.

I mamanged to recover control and land the heli but noticed that underneath the swash what looks like the bearing guard had departed from the swash bearing.

Now I've cut it off with a set of side cutters and the swash behaves fine and the heli is perfect now and flies fine i'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if its anything to worry about.

When I lost momentary control this little metal ring could be seen hula-hooping around below the swash and mainshaft collar, and i troed to pop it back into the bearing and on the next flight it popped straight out again so I decided to remove it as the swash was behaving fine.

Just wondered if anyone else had had this happen and if I should send the swash back for replacement, however I feel the swash is operating fine??

Cheers, Will.

Its a shield that goes in the bearing as you have discovered. I have seen that one other time in development of the model, but none in production. All we did was the same thing you have done. We simply cut it off and flew the model. I beleive it is still in service on one of Curtis's older machines. Works just fine. However if you feel you have a problem let me know and I will do whatever I can to help you out.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

This happened to my Rave on flight 3 a couple months back or so.

I cut the bearing shield off and haven't thought about it since.

I throw yoyos, and used to throw competitively, and they see about 5-10k RPMs. To "break in" a bearing usually takes a few weeks of daily throwing, so to speed up the process on a new yoyo, we deshield our bearings and run them pretty dry, only add a tiny drop of oil to prevent rust.

I'm not worried in the slightest about a lack of shield on this bearing. If it was an offroad car, I may be a little worried, but on a swash, nah.
