I agree with most -- if you use the refund button on the transaction page there are no fees involved :0)

I do not understand why I will have to be charged for a restocking fee for part Y in this case.

The part Y is not what I originally want and I did not order it. It was suggested by the shop at the last moment before shipping my order out because they did not have part X in stock.

If I ordered part Y, then yes, I agreed that they should charge the restocking fee.

I think you were asking too much. Option #2 was completely out of line. I understand the frustration with the Paypal fees but Paypal had nothing to do with you not getting the goods you ordered. They supplied a service and got paid. You voluntarily requested the online shop send you a refund. It's probably not reasonable to expect them to pay your paypal fees.

Forget Paypal. Just look at using Visa or Mastercard credit cards. The merchant has to pay 2 or 3 percent on all transactions. So they would of paid when you placed the order and they would of had to pay again to refund back to the card.

A scam by the shop. If they don't want to incur fees they should use another payment method. Shops put a mark up on all items to cover costs, overheads, refunds and providing a service.

If the shop suggested the part then I don't think you should be expected to eat the fees, no matter if it is $.01 or $10. It's a matter of principal.

I would never expect my clients to eat a charge on something I suggested to them that they didn't like and returned, even if my vendor charges me a restocking fee. likewise I require the same from those I deal with.

Give them a call and let them know how you feel. I would be surprised if they didn't offer to rectify the situation.

Bingo!! That is what exactly I want to point out.

I'd still call them, if for no other reason than they might not be aware you charged a fee. I have always found a little conversation can avoid a lot of unhappiness.

Ok did you not agree to them sending this part?? Your posting on my questions.
The same day the shop called me that part X is not available and offered to send me part Y at a cheaper price. I said ok,
THen you went on to say. [quote]I checked part Y they sent me and I did not like it. So, I called them saying that I was going to return part Y and would like to wait for part X that I originally ordered.quote] Ok it is not THIER fault you decided to not keep and use the part they offered you. So why should they have to eat everything you are the one that decided to not keep said part AFTER YOU gave permission to the company to send the other part. As has been stated there are things you could of done to not incur the paypal fees but over all your being to picky 3% is a lot cheaper then a 15% restocking fee which they could of charged you due to YOU deciding you didnt like the other part and sent it back and that was after YOU gave them PERMISSION to send it to you. Eat the 3% fees and go over it I say it is not a big deal or a great amount of money. I bet you waste more then the 3% fee from paypal on junk every day just like all of us do.

I agree, just give them a call and see what happens, you never know. I just purchased a JCV camcorder from Target. It was normaly $450 on clearence for $315. It was the last display model and did not have the box. They had everything in a manilla envlope. I went through everything with the counter guy and all looked good. When I got home I noticed something, no charger. It took several days to resolve the problem because the electronics manager was off. When he came back to work and could not find it himself he called another manager at my request. They ended up taking off for display and missing parts also. I ended up only paying $175 and I found a charger for $20. So, in the long run I got a $450 camcorder for $195 because I took the time to talk to them.

That just happened to me too! I like the shop, but little stuff like that is annoying isn't it?

Hope it works out for you whatever you decide to do Rudyy.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!
