As of this weekend the DOD has stopped the sale of expended military brass to ammunition the ammunition industry.
What this means is the price of ammo is going to go so high as to be not affordable to the average American.
We need to let our elected representatives know this is unacceptable as this is a back door attempt by the Obama administration to limit our second amendment rights.

Then get your "average Americans" to put all their expended brass together and sell it back to the ammunition industry.

everyone should be recycling anyways.

Yeah but that still does nothing to stop Obama from implementing more backdoor policies to erase the rights the American public.
Make no mistake, this administration is going to do more to rip this country apart than any other president in our history.
And if you stand by and let it happen you will be considered part of the problem and certainly not part of the solution.

This would be more tolerable if they were going to retain the brass for military and LE use, but not so. It turns out that the expended brass will be destroyed and turned into blocks of recycled brass.

This is most certainly a blatant back door attempt to curtail gun ownership in this country.

So, are they hoarding the blocks of brass? Is this an attempt to corner the brass market? Just how much brass in the private sector comes from expended military brass? Where does this military expended brass come from? They aren't picking up spent brass over in the desert...

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

Dood,

Thanks I know that. I am former Army. Most of my questions are rhetorical.

Somehow I doubt that the brass the military sells back to the ammunition industry has as big an effect on the price of brass as some would like to think. It's being hyped because it's a platform that right wingers can use to claim Obama is back dooring the 2nd amendment.

Have you tried to buy any ammo lately? I've never seen wal-mart's ammo shelves empty, ever. Until now. They have nothing but shotgun shells. Prices are sky high and reaching for space.

Boo-hoo you say? Think about this. Your local PD is having a hard time getting their ammo orders filled and this will not make things better. For those of you who think the local law enforcement officer will save your day every time you need them, their jobs are not going to get any easier because of this. Bravo. Pat yourself on the back.

This is not an attempt to raise the price of brass. In fact the DOD will sell the scrap brass to countries like China for pennies on the dollar as compared to what they could sell it to the ammo industry in it's reloadable form. So the DOD (Obama) will lower the amount of money going to the DOD and in this process damage one of the most viable industries in our country by lowering sales and causing layoffs.
All in the name of a political agenda.
Backdoor politics at it's finest.

The demand for ammo is so high due to the fear induced hoarding. Ammo dealers can charge anything and still sell it. May be a factor? It's been also a great time for gun manufacturers and dealers.

Your correct not very tolerant. And that is exactly what I meant by this comment.
I have very little to no tolerance for people who think that they have the right to interfer with my life and rights as an American citizen.
And BTW if the shoe fits then go ahead wear it.

Melt it down and sell it to China? Sounds like a lose, lose to me as the Gov. gets little on it's investment and the Chinese will make it into ammo that will be imported back to the USA or used by terrorists on our own people. Brilliant!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

I'm not sure I've seen a part in the 2nd amendment that guarantees your right to inexpensive ammunition.

Personally, I don't have any problem with a sane American citizen owning firearms, so don't get all paranoid with me there George...

The move doesn't make any sense financially so it does smack of gun grabber logic. It's a very small swipe at shooters but will have a negative effect on the trade imbalance. It's difficult to tell which Obama intends to achieve.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!
