Mr Soapbox

It's ironic John posted the Kool-Aid joke, because I think that's exactly the reason I went with a Pantera and NOT something like Align when I came back to Helis. It's the Audacity products that are 100% all-natural, Kool-aid free thought-out engineering!

I hear the Kool-aid buzz word at IBM and I won't touch the stuff - I rock the boat and irritate my co-workers, but I'm also one of the first to try and move a new direction with my team and what we're delivering.

It's the 'me-too' sheeple that drink the Kool-Aid. Align's probably glows at night it's so powerful.

Let's skip the 'heritage' vs 'clone' debate that's been bringing out the best of the haters from the JS crew and focus on the great thinking that put a single package together that is so perfect for someone like me (and no product is perfect for everyone)

-belt drive
-molded frame
-simple control linkages
Perfect for someone in the crash phase. Cheaper to get back in the air and easy to set up. Unique? no, but it's the right choice for a beginner, and a lot of folks don't take offense at those features.

- servo mounts for needle valve, retracts, etc
I have my sights set on scale some day, and this is perfect

- priced under $300 (since I've been shopping)
perfect fit for me!

- over sized bearings (for a 50)
- over sized clutch (for a 50)
- factory BBC kit (power at altitude or for attitude!)

This gave me a nitro heli that wouldn't be gutless in CO, and allow me an upgrade path on my initial investment.

That list plus Johns decade of replacement parts (directly OP topic related!) and awesome customer feed back discussions that sold me. The list of features is a lot longer, but those are what sold me.

I'm sure I've been called a 'cheerleader' and I know I've posted cheerleader messages because I get caught up in how much I've enjoyed all my Pantera and how well it's put together compared to others I've worked on. I spent three months reading and learning about what's available and intended to invest in a model, not just throw money at one.

Sure, I'd love to get my hands on some other models, I love trying new things out. I wouldn't mind a Vibe 50/90, and I lust for a Sylphide! (and a few others) - but the only reason to at this point is to spend money, the Pantera can give me F3C and I can work on rainbows, metronomes and funnels etc.

Since I started reading, and since I've joined the family, I've noticed it tends to be the thinkers that are attracted to the machine, not the sheeple. I love this family!

Nice post Max,
I've been wanting to try out the Pantera for a while... I just havent went out and purchased one yet. Like alot of people out their I enjoy buying different heli.'s and trying them out.... I mess with them usually for a bit then sell them off for the next prodject.

I've owned just about every brand out their some are great and I'd like to have another of this or that brand... With that said I bought a JS heli. Probably one of the 1st but not because I seen it and said great a cheep Vibe but because it was cheep and I like to try new things out and I do like the layout.... As for it being a Clone I personally wouldnt call it that because to me a clone is 100% parts interchangeable and the JS is not Frame's are a bit different (by a very little bit but they are) T.T. would need alot of frame mods to get it to work.... So to me I don't see it as a clone but a Damn good copy.

Like Mr. Beech said about the bearing block taking someone else's design and improving on it and I see nothing wrong with that, that's how most of this hobby work's... Did JS do that with their heli.. Yep sure did they copyed the Vibe and changed things.... Were they improvement's over the Vibe..... LOL no of course not.... They copyed it and changed a few things to avoid patent/infringement issues. It's been done like this in just about everything you use... Company's take a competitor's idea change a few things (be it button/switch placement, operetion,or name)and their clear.

Sorry about being so long winded But thats just my opinion and I'm not here to argue over this or that I'm here to have fun and share experiance and knowlage with fellow heli modeler's. I'm no JS cheerleader at all or any heli for that matter but the main heli brand that I fly since I've always prefered them and I'm not going to say the brand because this is not the right place for that but I think it's obvious.

I'm looking at the Pantera because I see a great design and from what I've read great support from the man himself... Seem's like if their is an issue with something Mr. Beech is right their to take care of it and thats the kindof of thing I like to see so thats why I will be buying 1-2 to try out.

Mr Beech contacted me via PM about the BBC before I even got a chance to call.... Now thats great costomer service. Thanks...

Just my .02..

I don't crash... I land with style

AMain seem to carry several lines of popular helicopters besides rc cars. Wonder what the real reason is. Maybe they know what sells and what doesn't and they do have they right to run as efficently as they so choose. Ron Lund sells the Panterra kit for 299. I wonder if he gets a rebate after being under cut by the manufacturer, I know they don't make that much per kit.

Now if I were a merchant and looked at how I'd be treated should I make a business decision contary to a manufacturer's interest, I think very carefully about any future dealings with such an individual. Associating a businessman with a thief does little to anchor any future especially with current and potential clients watching such behavior. Then again, a hungry and cornered animal does not usually behave in a predictable manner.

Just my penny's worth.

There you go again Billiebob, twisting information to suit your agenda.

Folks, this was all precipitated by a customer living out west whom I directed to A Main Hobbies, who subsequently contacting me to say while he'd purchased his Pantera from them, they had also tried to get him to purchase a Frenzy instead. In short, he wondered I realized what was going on. As for Ron, he can match our offer, as can any dealer! Once again, BB don't speculate about what you don't have knowledge of because we're on to you, and what you're always trying to do with your muckraking. Meanwhile, Ron was off last week on business travel, and is stopping in B'Ham for the fun fly, so nothing sinister is going on . . . except your ongoing attempts to stir the pot. What else is new?

Bah!! Had enough!!

Voodoox,Blademan and all the other nay sayers on the Pantera your just grousing for a fight and no matter what is said, YOU WON'T LISTEN OR LEARN!!! So take your BS somewhere else! Try the Align,Century or JR forums. I'm sure they will like your garbage talk just as much as we do. I'm done being nice, quite frankly if your Frenzy is the greatest thing since sliced bread, let it speak for itself, like the Pantera has done! SHOW ME, OR SHUTUP!!! I don't see you starting this crap in other forums, your just moving in on one you think is weak well guess again!! This kind of thinking is the same line I get from the prison inmates I watch everyday. Seen it before and nothing changes, can't tell them anything either!

Pantera is the only POS i ever saw blowup in midair. I don't have to start crap in other forums, because I've owned 99% of the others. Sounds to me like you need to be in there with them...........

No offense, Blademan, but if that was a 'real' issue with my product, I believe we'd see the forums lit up with reports. We don't see this for one simple reason, she's a sound product. Moreover, day after day people fly my product and are well satisfied - long term satisfaction at that. She's reliable, easy to work on, tough, and simple. Moreover, she's nimble and true in the air (feels at 'least' as good as a 600N or Vibe 50), has features they just can't touch, and now she's downright cheap to buy. Plus, there's an intangible . . . she's easier to live with too.

My 2¢

Frankly this subject material, although being quite intersesting, has absolutely no business jacking the real purpose of these forum threads!!!!

I believe the true purpose of the Audacity section of RR is to provide support, and share experiences with this manufacturer's products. Is the concept truly that difficult?

Didn't your momma ever teach you that if you couldn't say anything nice, not to say anything? Lots of folks here missing the basic decency of common manners. What a shame!

some help

For those who feel it necessary to talk trash, slam others, name call and general spread hate (because I predict a few return comments to some of the above) I suggest the following; get an account at dailystrength.org

Seriously, that is a good forum to vent and get some help.

I joking have the comment that I have issues in my sig. but members coming into the Audacity forum to tell the guys flying the Pantera daily their machine is crap is a little ridiculous. You don't see me posting in the Trex 450 forum how much I think it sucks (and I do), and I do fly one regularly.

The OP needs to change the thread title to 'Pantera philosophy' or something... Maybe heli brands are more like religion....

I'll echo Machinehead - go, shoo.
