Sorry Melnic although you take some good numbers.

Honestly I think it's all just technical mumbo jumbo test what you want heck one dry bearing can decrease flight times. Motors not completely the same or ESC with a little more thermal compound than the other batteries different leads solder joint with cheap solder. Just way too many variables. IMO the only way to do such a test is with a load tester like someone does on automotive batteries. Short and sweet discharge through a constant resistive load and measure.

But I flew the megapower packs for quite a while when I stepped up to the FMA I though what the hell is happening to my heli? And I overdischarged it on the first flight cause it never lost power till it wouldnt fly anymore!!!!!! Now thats a good batt high power with a constant discharge rate.

Tryan, Comparing the different batteries on the same platform I think IS a valid test. Especially the first test w/ the Fluke Current probe. The Zippy is better. But I sure expected it to be. I'm also comparing it to what I consider "budget" batteries.
Granted, there are alot of variables, but after research, my findings of the flybarless to flybar heli flight time is consistant w/ other people's data. BTW, the main shaft bearings in the Flybar heli are brand new.

Something else you guys probably don't take into consideration is that batteries change over time. By this I mean a TP 2200 25C pack bought one month is not the same pack as one bought 6 months later. The technology and manufacturing is changing faster than that. So saying that megapowers purchased 2 years ago tapered off during the whole flight is not useful information. Today's megpower packs are totally different. Hell they even look different. Last spring I bought a pair of 2100 15c packs and so I know all about those particular packs. Then A friend of mine bought a pair of the same packs about 2 months ago and they are half the physical size!

Anyhow my point is that no 2 packs are the same unless they are from the same lot, even if the brand and model numbers are the same.

Good point!

Even my FMA from just over a year ago is about 3 generations behind now. But makes a good RX pack for your UHMMM nitro.

I just did another test on another EXI/Blueray that is identical mechanically and electronicall to the flybar heli I tested a few posts ago.
Same results on the Tmetic and Mystery batteries. 9m30sec and 9m38sec for the batteries in a strict indoor hover.
All 3 helicopters had the same RPMS within 100RPMS of each other at 5 degrees of pitch.

I did a test on 2 other motors tonight.
a Dealextreme 2217 w/ 11T pinion.
Was 25A @2600 RPM

Align 420L w/ 11T pinion
Was 21A @ 2500RPM

I hovered the Align motor to 11m30s as well so it seems to be as efficient at the Alpha 400 I had in there. The RPMS were a tad lower, I'll probably put a 12T on the Align and leave it in there and adjust the curves for 2800RPM.

I ordered 2 more Zippys
