I used Swapalease.com along with Escrow.com to handle a lease xfer. They held a 10k downpayment for me until the buyer received the car and sign the paperwork. Once he said he got it...I got my money minus a nominal xaction fee. Was a very comfortable way to handle the xaction. And for additional safety for the seller/me, the buyer had 48 hours from the time the shipping company showed it as delivered, to accept. If he drug his feet, I still got my $$$.

No way for either party to get scammed. We were both very very satisfied with Escrow.com.

FWIW I checked escrow.com

Not too bad, actually... for a $1000 heli, the fee is $32.50 (3.25% up to $5000)

Split between selling/buying parties, $15 each doesn't seem like a bad cost for a guaranteed transaction

MAN why didn't I think of a website like that

Man, that sucks and I hate it when Paypal doesn't back you up. They need to give all info of account linked to that paypal account so you can go to that bank and find out who the real person is.

On another note, I understand what you guys are saying about newbies, but within 3 days of being on this site, I spent over $1200 on a Raptor 3D RTF, Within a week of being on helifreak I bought an OS HZ 91 with pipe from a guy in England. Within a month of being on these two sites, I sold a Raptor 50 3D and am in the process of buying a TREX 600 Super Pro thats being advertised on both sites, so...not all newbies are bad. I gave them my paypal info (score of 400) and my ebay info (score of 292) and that showed them I wasn't some scammer.

I am sorry to hear this, I had someone on here ripped me off before and I was almost quit this hobby. Paypal could not do anything for me b/c I bought it through this forum. It's only work when we purchase on ebay. With current economy I rather buy brand new or on ebay just for safety.

That's total BS, if you use paypal they SHOULD protect you. It doesn't matter if you use RR or Ebay, if you use paypal you should get their assistance in these matters. If paypal told you that, then the person is wrong.

Glad to see you got you money back.

In the future, if you use a credit card thru PayPal, you may have some recourse going thru your credit card issuer. At one time PayPal prohibited that, but I think I read that they have changed that policy.

Here is the big secret with paypal. You should always use credit card as the funding source. Preferably American Express. I've had no probolems getting my moneyback from AMEX. I don't even bother talking to paypal. AMEX talks to paypal for me and gets my money back even if the person does not have money in their account.

Case in point:

6 months ago I bought concert tickets on craigslist. Concert gets canceled about 2 months AFTER I paid for the tickets. I contact the guy who sold me the tickets and he ignores me.

I then file a dispute with paypal but paypal rejects it because its past 30 days.

I spend 20 seconds filling forms on AMEX online and 2 weeks later I got my money back. Easy.

You'll never get ripped off using american express + paypal. Just make sure you always select AMEX as the funding source. Paypal default to using your bank account every time. FOllow advice above and I promise you , you will have a safe online shopping experience.
