Align Trex 600N, Metal Tail Belt Unit Or Metal Tail Torque Tube Unit
Anyone can tell??
which Tail Unit is better for Trex 600N.
Metal Tail Belt Unit?? Or Metal Tail Torque Tube Unit????
Which last longer??
Torque Tube or Belt, which is better? I've had both and I currently fly with the TT. After a approximately 100 or so flights on my belt driven 600E, I lost orientation and stuffed my helicopter. Everyone was raving about the TT so I decided to rebuild with the TT tail drive. The unit frees up the main gear a little, but I'm not getting anymore flight time and I don't notice a significant performance gap. To answer your questions, I must agree with JetFire and JRjoe in their responses to the topic. The TT adds the bling factor to the helicopter, however, a less than stellar landing with the TT driven tail will send you to running to the LHS looking for new gears and possibly a new TT to replace the damaged goods on the wrecked TT unit.
People get hung up over the TT vs. Belt issue without knowing anything about the true and accurate facts. Unless you are wringing the snot out of your helicopter, either of the options will work well. Belt driven tails are more forgiving concerning patchy landings and crashes. Not to mention, they fly very well and can be adjusted to flying style through tension control. If you look at the high end F3C models ($2,000+/kit) you'll notice that they come with belt driven tails.
Anyway, I'm on my third glass of wine and I feel as though I'm beginning to babble. Good luck with your decision and safe flying to all.
