I love my Freestyle....i mean, absolutly love it. I still leave the predator canopy on though...personal preference, but it is the Freestyle converted from the Predator.
lol, yup! i couldnt believe how light is its either. and how slim. i painted an aurora canopy fo someone last year, and the aurora canopy was almost too BIG for the frame of the predator. i have a brick (4500 2S2P lipo) sitting in the nose, and its still super light...even impressing some of the hot shots around here. I think its amazing that my Freestyle...with a bigger motor, heavier electronics and battery, could still be 2 pounds lighter then my Vigor!!!
wow its light, thats a 90?
one thing i love about it being light, is it can do stationary flips VERY well....well...it does everything well!!
with a heavier machine, like my old Vigor, your kind of lugging it around trying to stop it from free falling.
unfortunatly though, i stuffed mine in right at the end of the flying season. Overall damage wasn't too bad. Boom, servo gears...metal ones at that, skids, main blades and some links. But the motor and pipe took the brunt of the impact....not as bad relative to previous crashes with previous helicopters
I just wish the canopy would wrap the boom like it should
the Freestyle canopy wraps itself around the boom....But that being said, i havnt found a reason to switch to the freestyle canopy...even though i have one. I love how it handles as is. How fast do you really want those terminal velocity tail slides to be?
just like the Raven, its quick with the cyclic for sweet 3D, but at the same time, without even changing a flight mode or setup, it is stable enough for full throttle 160km/h high speed passes over the field without the fear of it pitching.
Here are some pics of mine in action, no videos unfortunatly though, maybe next season. Lots more in the gallery. The canopy you see in these pics was actually repaired from a crash. the nose had been ripped off (repairs and pait done by myself). but unfortunatly with this last crash....repairs are not really an option...i would be better off making a new canopy out of Bondo
