There must be 500-Atom owners to every 1-Knight 600e owner!

The few videos that have been made flying the 600e show it to fly very well. I'm very surprized this heli hasn't become more popular than it has???

That is a very good question. I have not flown a Knight 600e myself. I would like to though. I have however seen them flown up close and personal. They "get it done".

The battery cost is what keeps me out of the 600e category. And because you can use 2 450 battery's in the 500 is my guess why so many people are going to that size. I know that is what made it a no brainier for me I already had plenty of packs.

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

thats what scares 99% of people away from the big electrics, not only the upfront cost but if you were to lose one in a crash, thats a tough one to swallow

thats another benefit of running 2 3s packs in a 500,should you have a bad crash, chances are you may only take out one battery, and you can get kick ass 450 batts for less than 50 bucks now and with a crash warranty its not so bad

I just FINALLY got my ATOM set up(weather has been horrible plus the holidays)and I'm really loving the 500 size, more power and better performance than a 450,easier to see in the air and flies more like a bigger ship, but gear wise(servos, batts, blades)the cost is not much more than the 450's,its really a great size

Hey Fender,

what packs are you flying in your Atom? I was looking at the 6s Outrage 3000mAh 25C packs that everyone recommends - but $180 for a battery is just too painful. Helidirect has Mega Power 6s 2500 packs for $81 so I may pick up 1 or 2 of those.
I also just went out on a limb and ordered 2 3s 2200 25c Mystery packs for my Mini Titan - $22.50 each including shipping from Hong Kong. Seemed like it was worth the gamble.

Why is there little interest in the 600e???
Heck even in this thread the conversation has morphed into an Atom discussion

I just picked up a used 600E from the RR classifieds, I like the idea of a quick, easy, short duration flight in the cold weather here in IL.

Yeah batteries for an 8S heli are not cheap, but what about heli flying is cheap? During the summer months it's not unheard of to go through two or three gallons of nitro fuel in a week.

I'm really liking this bird, hope to be flying it real soon!

I've been flying a Knight 600e on 8s for about 10 months. It's great flying heli!! The Align crew just look at me funny when they see me pull it out of the car. After a flight they are normally asking what is it? etc etc etc.

It gets the undiscovered heli of the year award.

Hey Fender,

what packs are you flying in your Atom?
sorry, not trying to hijack, but its rude not to answer when someone asks a direct question

I am a field rep for PerformancePlusRc batteries,I have been testing my ATOM with 2 3s packs because I have 8 of them here already, and it was just easier, but Saturday I just got my first 6s packs,a 2500 30C 6s pack, should be fun,but I picked a really bad time of year to be messing with a new heli, the weather just wont cooperate with my days off,man having a brand new heli sitting here dying to be flown is like torture

3 gal gas X $1.60 + $1.00 oil = $5.80. Go Gasser.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Well I guess I just got an education about what part of heli flying is cheap!

Sorry about yet another off topic post! Attention spans are getting short this time of year, not enough flying !

No worries about hijacking or off topic as your comments just justify my thoughts about little interest in the 600e.

I really like what I see in the 600e and when I decide to drop the coin on a 550-600 class heli the Compass is certainly one of the front runners!

I thought the Outrage 550 might be the thing as it's being marketed as a 6S heli but I am not to sure that 6s are gonna prove to be best in that heli??? I'm guessing in 6-months folks are gonna find that better battery life, and flight times are gonna come from 8s not 6s for the Outrage-550. Time will tell??? Point being if both the 600e and OU550 are best on 8s then the 600e is much more attractive in that regard then it is now.

I'm now flying a Razor 600E with 10S pack. I love this thing, my gasser is in retirement now. Yep, battery cost will knock a lot of folks out of the playing field.
