I've been flying my Trex for about 6 months. I don't use any expo because I want the heli to be as responsive as possible. I'm only doing mild 3D now but expect to do more. A friend of mine who is an excellent 3Der in both the 450 and 90 size nitros says he always uses expo. He says it keeps the routines from becoming jerky. What do you'all think? Do you use expo? How much? Do you use it on elev, aile, and rudder? What about dual rates?

Whyfly, 20% on elev, aile, and rudder? Or 10% on rudder? Have you ever flown without any expo? Do you think the expo helps you fly better? The expo on the rudder has no impact on the gyro gain? I didn't think you wanted any expo on the rudder. What about dual rates? Is that only for planks? Thanks.

Xpo just takes the edge off around ctr stick, thats about it.

I use 25 on ail and ele.

20 for the tail.

As for DR, who has time to be flippin switches..??

No need to take you hands off the sticks.

Now if your into FAI then thats another story.

On my DX7 I like running expo in normal mode and idle1. Gives me a little more stick to play with without jerking around. But I leave it off in idle2 for when I want the fastest response. Give it a try and see what you think. You can switch between the two easy enough.

Better yet, if you have a simulator, try it there first. You'll notice the difference.

fwiw..

20% on rudder, 25-35% on cyclic...Reasons being I can set the heli up hotter, still be able to fly smooth maneuvers...Expo also helps, I believe in not knocking the heli out of the flight path desired by unwanted inputs while making rapid cyclic/collective changes.

I used to fly no expo either, but when getting into aerobatics I was giving unwanted rudder input so now I have 20% on rudder only.
