Ok, what gives here? I remember as a kid, a "fun size" candy bar was about 1/2 of what a regular candy bar was meaning you could eat two of them and have the same intake as a regular bar. A fun size Reese's was one individual cup whereas the full size version was two cups. Now, it is one cup, but noticeably smaller than the a cup in a two cup package. Same thing with Milky Ways/Snickers. The fun size used to be 1/2 of a regular bar, now they are about 1/4 of a regular bar.

My wife gave me a couple of these so called fun size bars in my stocking this year. That's what brought all this on as I was tearing away the package looking in awe and disbelief of the midget turd that was my Snickers bar.

Hey! Agreed. My idea of a "Fun Sized" Snickers bar would be delivered on a giant spool.

You'd have to rush me to the dentist in an ambulance after you had what was my idea of a "fun sized" Reese's cup.

Hershey bars did the same thing, but kept the bar the same size square and just made it thinner,I think it is about 1/16 inch thick now.

Its not just candy....

Ice cream is now less than a 1/2 gallon for the same price...

Some jars have concave bottoms to give the appearance of the same amount and you use to get for the same price...

Prices actually went up due to fuel cost while the products got smaller..

Its not greed, its companies doing what they have to to stay alive. The real question is why are they forced to go this direction?

^^Oh lord, don't bring seriousness to this thread for God's sake. If it's not greed, then why haven't they lowered the cost back down a little since gas is now much cheaper? Same thing with beef and chicken when the Atkin's diet was so popular. Of course it's greed. But let's not turn this into another "one of those threads". Keep this light and bitchy!

Yeah, ice cream is another. Around these parts Blue Bell Ice Cream is a favorite and they advertise all the time that they're still selling 1/2 gallons while everyone else has gone to 1 3/4ths quarts or whatever they are.

I also agree with Mark C. Fun size means it better be bigger than at least two king size bars end to end.

Hey, anyone remember when Reese's started selling peanut butter like Peter Pan and Jiff? I myself couldn't wait for it thinking it would taste just like the pb in the pb cups but I was severely disappointed when it tasted just like every other peanut butter without the sugar..

That's the problemo there Krash The GIANT size is what the regular candy bar used to be.Only went down hill from there. If they keep going like that, pretty soon all we will have is a scratch and sniff

No there not, the giant Snickers is not the old normal size.

BTW, is it just me or does the giant Snickers have a different ratio of chocolat to guts then the normal size? It seems like there's not enough chocolat and too much guts in them. Their still good though.

Snickers must have changed their recepie a couple years ago. The almond one is still acceptable though.
Reeces has cut down the PB to chocolat ratio. I have to buy the special shaped ones they make for Christmas, Easter, Halloween to get enough PB in them.

Now I'm addicted to the high-end stuff, not the cut-down street junk.

Lindt hazelnut white chocolat truffels. My wife bought 4 boxes for the holidays and somehow they all dissapeared

Heli's just mock me then crash....

you people don't know what real candy is. my father-in-law took over one of them small town candy stores after WWII, you know the kind with the soda fountain in the back and they sell homemade hand-dipped chocolates and candy like peanut clusters and stuff, peanut brittle, carmel apples, roasted peanuts, all kinds of the "good stuff". when i started reading this topic pictures of fata$$ed people went through my mind. i started wondering why people would put that garbage in their body and then i remembered my brother-in-law was taught a couple years ago the secret recipes and that's what we got for christmas, one of them 4 quart ice cream containers full of peanut clusters, almond clusters, cashew clusters, choc. covered pretzels, orange slices. i never ate much candy gowing up especially after going to the dentist the first time when i was five and him telling me to "stay away from candy" after capping half of my teeth. that was almost fifty years ago and i guess he left quite and impression. we'll put/hide the "good Stuff in the freezer and believe it of not it will last through the summer. i just went and got a peanut cluster, man that's some good stuff! oh yeah, almost forgot, my bro-in law showed me how to make roasted peanuts friday. Good Stuff!
got o-flettes(spelling?)too.

I guess I'm on the other side of the fence on this one. I would much rather have more nougat, peanuts and caramel than chocolate. As suggested, you want chocolate, grab a 2-pack of Reese's since they seem to be more proud of their peanut butter these days.

This reminds me of a childhood story,,

I had a friend over and inthe morning my mom came down and he was staring at 2 bowels looking deep in thought. my mom asked him what the problem was and he replied he was trying to figure out which of the two would hold the most cereal... my mom replied does it really matter you can fill it back up if your still hungry...

so does it really matter if they are smaller? heck they come in a bag of like 20... or does opening 2 small wrappers burn to many calories that you are trying to pack on with that extra 1/8th of snickers?

favorite quote, no honey thats the same helicoptor i have always had
