I have been flying my raptor V2 for two years now and want to upgrade to a 50 heli, I do like the sound of the align 600 nitro (belt drive)but have heard there is a problem with the 120 swash plate not being in alignment, any thoughts pilots?

Why not get a raptor 50? Are you happy with the brand?

I recommend the new JR VIBE 50 3D Pro Kit. IT IS the best 50/600 sized heli on the market. Period. I live in Japan right now, and I noticed most of the Japanese guys are buying it like hotcakes! It's gotten nothing but AWESOME reviews in all of the publications too. It's definately better than the T-REX 600N (IMHO). I'm building mine right now! Make sure you use the 140 degree setup. It rocks!

The Vibe is the nicest 50 I've seen. 120 or 140 ccpm, whatever your radio supports is fine.

vibe 50, unless you are on a budget, then get an evo50, best bang for the buck at this time.

Man, I miss the eighties.

Heli

Jr does make a good heli, but I have a Trex 6ooN Pro and the 120 set is fine, I have had lots of air time on it and not one problem. I think if you are just starting out with a 50size heli the Raptor 50 or 50 titan are good, the parts are low cost and you can get them almost anywhere. Remember you will crash so replasement cost should be in your mind when you get the new 50 size heli. I also have a raptor 50 and it flys like a dream. Buy what you want but see what other people are flying, mainstream is mainstrem for a reason. Also when you get a 50size NITRO DO NOT use JR DS821 sevos they are not strong enough for that size heli, unless you just fly around if you do ANY stunts you need a better servo are you are going to get hurt.

here's some good info:
http://runryder.com/search.htm?do=s...sortby=lastpost

here's some good discussion around a 50 http://runryder.com/helicopter/t480063p1/

my take:
There are a lot of great helis in this class:

Hirobo Sceadu
Century Raven
Audacity Pantera *my personal favorite*
JR Vibe
Compass Knight
Thunder Tiger Raptor
Kyosho Caliber 5

I would love to have any of those to add to my fleet, they're all great. Oh, and I think there's one called a trex 600 or something.

It will be your transmitter and electronics that are the bigger investment. Spend the money on good equipment, and all the above heli's will serve you well. Do the reading to go for the features that mean the most to you.

There are probably a dozen more I didn't even list, but they aren't held as high IMHO.

I have to say, I did a lot of reading before I went with the Pantera.

as your fimilar with the raptor and probly have parts to fit your 30 seems like alot of parts from the 30 and 50 will interchange it sounds like it would be your best bet but i personally like my align 600n's

If you are happy with your Rappy, go the route of a Raptor 50. Also check around at your local flying field. See what everyone is flying. That could help you out in your next choice.

+1 on the 600n, I have two of them and a 500
I had a rappy 30 then moved on to the 600 and I am very happy with them.
However I have never had any of the other brands so I can not compare.

just turn your raptor into a 50 size for cheap and have fun till you want to spend alot of money. just order a motor mount, pinion, main gear, boom and belt and have fun.

as for up dating your Raptor 30 to a 50, I think I would rather just buy a Raven 50, it comes stock with $90 Carbon blades you will need, and then you would still have your 30 to fly
