I'm trying to understand what does what on my Predator gasser. It flys great the way it is but I see so many possible combinations with this head and makes me wonder if I could fine tune it one way or another. Not sure if I need to just want to know how and what everything does.

In the first picture the main grips have 2 holes at different lengths from the bearings or from the blades. My Predator was used when I got it and it utilizes the farthest back hole. What would it do if I put it in the closer (closer to the blade!) hole? Faster or slower or more or less pitch or cyclic?

Same on the seesaw assembly. There are 2 holes one closer and one farther from the center line of the flybar. I have figured out that through ratio's moving this one in and the ball on the bell mixer out would increase the cyclic throw....or so I think!

I'm only familar with the bell mixer because there is a detail on these in the instructions (although it's the old one and I have the newer one with 2 holes on the pitch side!) .

I could go and do the ole fashion "trial and error" method but would really hate to have something go wrong from not knowing what to expect from a given mod or thinking this should happen only to find out the opposite did.

Anyone adjust thier heli to the extent that you could or should I leave well enough alone? I can't seem to find any details on line on these adjustments and especially not on the Century site.

Confused Tom!

Well, let me see if I can shed some light.

First, let me address the mixing arm, the little arm thingy that attaches to the blade grips. This mixes the input from the flybar with the inputs that you feed through the transmitter. Attaching the ball links to different locations on this arm allows you to change how much influence the flybar has on the control of the helicopter. You can change it so the flybar has less influence and your command inputs have more influence, or you can go the other way. As a rookie, I would suggest leaving this to where the flybar has more influence as this helps the helicopter be more stable.

Having said that, the first picture you mention with the two holes on the blade grips. These appear to be only for positioning the mixing arm. In other words, depending on how you setup the mixing, one hole may work better at avoiding binding than the other hole. Again, just allows you to position the mixing arm. It doesn't appear to serve any other purpose. I am basing my conclusion about this entirely on my understanding of physics and mechanical motion. I have no experience with such a blade grip, but it doesn't appear that either hole would change any flight characteristics. I would just make sure that both blade grips are using the same hole.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys but I know what the mixer does, as stated in my post, and what effect it has on the flybar. It's the second hole in the blade grip arm and the second hole in the seesaw that has me somewhat baffeled.

In my manual, the photo is of a plastic blade grip and it has only one hole in it and the mixing arm as only one hole to (right of center)

But I ask myself to about the two holes on the newer blades grip if it changes any thing, but like jrett says I think it's for avoiding binding.

There is a chart that shows the new 5 hole bell mixer and what all the holes and combinations do.
