If I was interested in buying something used here on RR,
It has been advised to use the feedback check, or follow up on seller.
Now if I do not personally know the seller, Nor the individuals that are submitting the Feedback.. See the confusion!
I am right back in the same boat of "Buyer Beware" syndrome correct?

Point of question is I do want to purchase something I saw used, is there any input on how to ensure the sale agreement?
(from the guys that have been down the road with this)

Thanks...

Ive been down that road

One thing that will give you a little more confidence is talking to the seller over the phone. There really isnt much you can do except look at there feedback

There is no way to assure that a sale will go through and not get burnt. I myself will not buy a item used or nib from a private party unless i can see it touch it and check it out. Just the way I am and got this way from watching so many others get burned.

I have purchased two helis here .

one for 850 bucks and another for 1200, also purchased a 1300 dollar plank, from a Flying G member.

All after talking and finding out the guy I as buying from was :

A: A long time member of the forum

B: A good sellers rating.

Personal checks were used, and the full transparency and info exchanged.

Bottom line, if the hair stands up on the back of your neck, be careful .

I still don't have any classified feedback from the two transactions here. ...... go figure. Sometimes feedback never gets updated...so read, search, talk, discuss, exchange info , become friends. Then do the deal.

RR is probably one of the safest sites to buy stuff, usually the scammers get caught right away and dont have a chance.. look at there posts, if they are a new member and there first post is in the classifieds selling an Aurora, then odds are that its not true. If they have 4000 posts and have been registered since 2002 then pretty good chance they are legit..

A members long and active history here on RR usually goes a long way. Read thru the sellers posts as well as the feedback.

RR is probably one of the safest sites to buy stuff
Seen more scams here then most here in recent months. I disagree no forum is safe to buy from. Seen even "members in good standing" here burn someone here took a while but if I recall the burnt person got thier money back after several months not sure been a while since that one. Only safe way is to not buy on a forum or anyplace you cant see the item in person. Now if your in the area of the person selling then its not a problem. Like with switch26 he is the next town up or broken link he is around 20 miles so if they were to sell something I can go see and check out the item. as for buying elsewheres on RR or any other forum or online auction forget it I wont do it.

i have bought many items on rr and knock on wood never been burnt and have bought lots of items i think what i do is i almost always check to see how long they been here and see how many post they have cause if your postin alot and been here a while someone can help me find you and ill have better chance in gettin the item or gettin them. but so far so good

Almost every time I sell something to someone I take pic's of item before it goes in the box, then picture of it in the box and packaged, then taped and with delivery slip insurance and tracking number to make sure they are a happy buyer, then email the person after it goes to them to make sure everything GOOD!!!!!!!!
I take about 6 to 8 pic's of item sold, then keep them until items arrive and buyer is HAPPY

Judgement Call.

No doubt about it, it is a judgement call.

A bargain sometimes requires risk, but, with a little effort the risk can be managed, IMO.

I have done numerous deals here on RR and only got shammed twice. Once I bought some lipo packs and they were no good. Most recently I purchased a receiver and it was in very poor condition. I will no longer purchase used lipo packs from members I don't know and the crappy receiver, well I should have asked more questions and asked for better pictures. If I would have seen it in better pictures, I am sure I would not have sent the person my money.
Just ask questions and get good pictures, if the person has been here a while and has good feedback (more than one or two) you should be fine.

I am a Heli addict!!!

Needed components
COMMUNICATION
Long time member
Phone call (for items of high value)
Good feedback here &/or Fleebay
Nailed down details-cost, shipping method and promised ship date, everything included in the deal, condition and good pictures
very important
warm and fuzzy feeling about the seller and the deal

If its less than $75 or so, I dont stress it so much. If its over $100 (alot of $$ to me) a call lots of questions and pics as well as all above apply. Sorry no matter how good the deal if the member name is green and/or has no feedback, I wont do a high dollar deal. I really like doing business with members here that have 100s of posts in forms that are not sale related, people who have some time, energy and effort invested here.

RIP ROMAN
