When you purchase an item used here, and don't try it out for a few months and you find out it isn't working even though you were told it is working when you bought it, what would you do? And I do mean a few months, not a few days after you bought the item.

And say you bought the item at the time because the price was right and you knew you would need it in the future, but have no way of testing it until you buy the rest of the stuff you need. So, you left it in a padded envelope on your work bench untouched.

Man, I miss the eighties.

IMO you're stuck with it. I know that sounds incorrect but if I were the seller and you contated me months later with that story, I likely wouldn't believe you and I'd think you had just wrecked it yourself.

I guess it all depends, perhaps the seller would be willing to work something out, maybe not, but I don't think that you should attempt to force them to do so.

Also it would depend on what sort of item it is.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I always inspect everything I get, as soon as it arrives. If there's a problem, then I contact the seller.

But, months later? Sorry.

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..

Depends also on who you bought it from, IF they are an stand up seller, there is a very good chance they will work something out with you if they trust your explaination.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

I think are stuck with it, but I would still contact the seller just to see if we could agree on something.

I am of the same opinion that I'm stuck with the item, but I do find it disappointing that people say things are working fine when in fact they aren't. Its not the first time I have bought an used item that wasn't exactly as described or implied. If I had mistreated the item during its storage, then I would see that it could have happened on my end. I guess I will have to make an effort to make sure things work when they arrive so issues can be resolved quickly. Thanks for the input and opinions.

I gotta agree, if you buy it and don't test it for say 30 days then it's your baby. Seriously as a seller we really don't know what you've done with it.I always say my stuff is good when i send it out but 30 days later, come on. It's your baby.....

I do agree, I've had the items long enough not to go back to the original seller and say something. I do wish people will stop saying an item is in good shape when its not. I've bought a few items advertised in good shape, or told was in good shape and then when I get around to checking it, its not. I know any given item can go bad at any given time without warning. I'll take due dilligence in checking items I buy used in the future and I'll ask more questions so that my pms will be a record of desription of the item. This is something for everyone to keep in mind when buying used items and selling used items. Describe it accurately when selling and ask questions when buying and test it after you buy it. Thanks for the comments guys. I just wanted to hear how others feel about situations like this.
