The ESC that ships in the 250 kit comes with a nifty JST connector installed for the battery connection. I suppose that's sufficient.

For those of you who've been flying the 250 for awhile now, did you stick with the JST connector, switch to the 2-pin Micro-Deans, or go whole hog and put a Deans Ultra connector (the big one) on it. Or, did you use something completely different?

Did some searching for connectors. I can't find any specs on the Deans connectors (Ultra OR Micro) at the W.S. Deans website, but found this on the JST connector site:

http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/detail_e.php?series=521

Maximum DC current rating is only 3 amps. I wouldn't think these are suitable, considering the ESC is a 15 amp device, and I would highly suspect that the motor will use more than three amps in flight.

And found this interesting site while searching:

http://www.icare-rc.com/connectors.htm

But note that the chart rates the JST at 5 amps, not 3, as the manufacturer states. As a result I don't know how much trust to put in the chart at this site. Even the Deans Micros are a bit suspect if you believe the 10 amp rating in the chart. Of all the common connectors in use, it would appear that the Deans Ultra is about the only qualified connector with regard to amp ratings.

I just started to use the Ultra Deans because I got 4 Zippy batteries with the deans connectors already installed. Plus, all my chargers have the Dean's connectors so it was a no brainer for me.
