I've been refitting Tryan's old electricub over the past few months. It has a new wing and the top half of the fuse is also new basing it on the Great Planes 20 size Cub that I got plans for. The Cowl is fiberglass and was hand made by my father in law. I stuffed a OS 35 into it and got to do initial engine runs today and I'm VERY pleased with the results I still have to fab some wing struts and then I will start test flights Here's a vid of the engine run once I got it running reliably through all throttle positions.

Maiden!!

I just got back from the flying field. The Cub flew beautifully I kinda pushed my time limit and landed after about 20 minutes with very little fuel left in the tank I just didn't want to stop flying It takes off from grass nicely and flies and sounds very scale The plane is kinda overpowered but I figured it would be which will come in handy when I put floats on her Nice scale level flight is right about 1/2 throttle and it has a glide path I've never seen on a powered plane Once I set up for final approach I flipped the throttle hold which is set at low idle and still overshot my desired landing spot I guess deadsticks with this bird won't be an issue The only major issue I had was the elevator and rudder are VERY touchy so I'm going to set the dual rates accordingly for the next flight whenever the weather permits No vid unfortunately as none of my cam guys were willing to stand out in the cold that long but I did get some field shots just before flight

Now that it's warming up I got a camera man to go with me to film The downside is with the overcast zooming in and keeping track of it was impossible with my cam So I put together some of the usable clips of todays flying, enjoy.

The scary part is most of that was at 1/3-1/2 throttle and 2 of the low passes were in idle The OS 35 is WAY overkill but it does balance out nice with it in there

Very nice, John. You know, though my airplane and helis are all electric powered, I may just have to build me one of those dirty and smelly engine powered airplanes .
