Hi guys,

Can someone tell me what motor shaft size is required for the engine pinion gear? Is it set up for 5 or 6 mm shafts? I am going to get a new motor for a second machine and I may use a lot of the drive train components from the Joker 3DD for my next ship. I would rather use the 8 mm shafts, but I doubt the pinion gear is big enough to support an 8 mm shaft.

Thanks for the help

On the 2 series of Jokers, we use 8mm motor shafts. The minijoker uses a 5mm.

Thanks Joe,

I have a pretty good picture of the Joker 3DD and the hole in the top of the pinion gear looks like it is 8 mm, but photos are not a very accurate measuring device.

I have two joker 3dd helis at my apartment. Both use motors with 6mm pinions. Gerd sent me 11 and 12 tooth pinions. On 12s you will need motors in the 500 to 600 kv range.

Are you working on a new F3C machine?

Where are you in the US? Id love to show mine to you.

Hi guys,

Carlo I am in Greensboro NC. I may be coming to FL in march for Erich Freymann's contest/funfly in Tampa.

Carlo this is for my aerial video machine. I am designing a new platform with no belts. It is a very simple design concept which will make it much easier to tune. Belts, at least the Kyosho MBL belts just have and make too much harmonic vibration.

Thanks for the info Gerd. What is the tooth count for the main gear on the Joker 3DD? It looks like it is in the 130 tooth range. Do you know when the auto hub, main gear and pinions will be available? I would like to get those parts as soon as they are available. Also when will the tail box that allows you to bolt the tail rotor motor directly to the tail box be available?

Thanks for your help

I'd just like to add to this post that the Joker 3DD is already avilabe for purchase at Minicopter. It already solves the problems Wayne is talking about and quite a few others. Its tail design gives the user a very wide main rotor rpm options .

Please visit the Minicopter site for more details.

Actro 32-4 with 8mm shaft

I have an Actro 32-4 motor with an 8mm shaft. Is there a way I can use this motor on the Joker 3DD?

Hi Misskimo - I am trying to get (or make) an 8 to 6mm shaft for the Actro 24-3 that we posted about on another forum, do you know of someone that can machine my 8mm to 8mm replacement down? (My 8 to 5mm broke - it necks down to 4.83mm, then had a sharp radius where it broke).

Thanks Guys,

Hobby Club was great for the 8mm shafts, but I need to machine them down to 6mm. You did it on your HB lathe as I recall? - I do not think Actro makes a 8 to 6mm shaft for the 24 series, just the 32.

Checking SDP/SI now - I think I need to machine though - perhaps they can do it.
