Damaged my GY611 in a crash so am using my old GY401 at the moment with a hitec6965 servo. I just can't get the tail to stop wagging tried different gain settings but no luck. Before I used this gyro in my raptors without any issues. Perhaps there is some difference in setting up this gyro in the trex compared to the raptor? Anyone using this gyro in ur trex plz let me know what u think.

I fly the 600N with the 401 Too and have no problems. Hope this helps at least a little.

Are you are in AVCS mode? (Heading hold) or Rate mode?
HH is where you want to be for flight. Locked in feel.

My settings on the top of the 401 are
Digital switch set to OFF
Direction switch set to OFF

delay pot set to "0"
Limit pot is set to control your pitch slider movement as not to over-bind the servo.

My pushrod is on the third hole out from the center. The further out with the pushrod the more wag you may see.

I operate my 401 in heading hold at about 50% or higher in the HH mode (solid red light).

I am using the Dx7 Tx and have set up my Rx Gear channel to AUTO mode which makes automatic changing of Gyro sensitivity for each flight mode. For ex: Normal Stunt1 or stunt 2.

Heading hold will show a solid red light that will blink when you pull the rudder stick and go back to solid when you let go of the rudder stick. Rate mode you will see the red light flashing constantly. Rate mode you will notice a more loose feel vs. the solid or wagging of the Heading Hold Mode.

What radio are you using? I can help more if you are flying the Dx7. Otherwise I don't want to mislead you.

Hi itsjojo,
R u using the hitec servo? Because all other settings r similar to ur's and also I am i HH mode. With the futaba servo I never had any problems but this is the first time I've used the Hitec on rudder.

I'm using the Futaba S9254 tail servo. Seems to work fine on mine.

That sure sounds like it may be the Hitec servo. Not sure if that servo is new but sure sounds suspicious.

I know you mentioned a crash. Obviously you checked the tail rotor and linkages and all is fine and undamaged. Nothing binding?

Hmmmm, I'm sitting here scratching my head. If that servo is new I'd be stumped, or checking the servo.
Sorry I'm stuck on this one.

New servo but the crash was caused when I had this gyro and 9254 on another heli. During piro flips the heli started to piro very fast and wouldn't stop. So I hit hold but since I was pretty close to the ground the damage was quite a lot. The 9254 seems ok but I now think it was the gyro.

It's funny. All of a sudden my tail started to wag too after indicating it held so good. No crashes but it drove nuts and a buddy found the 401's foam tape was ripping away. The gyro was actually ready to fall off. Obviously the gyro was rocking back and forth. I learned on that one, CHECK EVERYTHING! I admit to overlooking the most obvious.
Good luck with yours
