I'm on the iTouch at the moment and I also text alot mostly on BLkBerry 8830. I use to hate texting but once you get use to it you can't stop. Txt is my preferred method of contact these days. I always answer txts where I wouldn't have answered a call.

Most wont like my response. I wish texting wasnt allowed. Seen to many people get hurt while texting while driving. I have had the texting rx and send capabilitys turned off by my phone company I do not text nor do I want to text nor do I want to get texts. It is a phone use it as such. If I want text messages I will go on my computer and send a IM on one of the many messaging programs out there to be used or go to a forum. To me texting with a phone is a big waste of time and effort.

I send about 100 texts a month, and receive about the same. People who text while driving are nuts!!! it's way too dangerous to take your eyes off the road for that amount of time. Personally, I think using a cell phone without a hands free set should be illegal. I bet that cell phones cause more accidents than drunk drivers do.

When driving it is here so is texting but I see people still texting and yakking on thier cells without the hands free and most of them I see are the ones in their 20's to early 30's.

They do. Most of the accidents you read about here in the paper the main cause is use of a cell phone.

My friend and i were driving though a neighborhood one time and a teenage girl driving a four wheeler coming in the other direction almost swerved into us. As she passed we noticed she was in the middle of typing on her cell phone with one hand and trying to drive with the other. We just looked at each other in disbelief and laughed.
I texted maybe 5 times a month. It has its purpose, sometimes i just can't talk or don't want to.

amen brother....another reason i don't have it is because i think it is another way that allows people to be impersonable....teenagers use it to break up and carry on whole relationships....

it is killing social maturity

Thanks

Very true. A guy I know here broke up with his wife by sending her a text. He was bragging about it all of us that were sitting there just looked at him and shook our heads and all said what a coward. I dont even like cell phones but due to when my father was still alive and in bad health I had to carry one incase the docs needed to get in touch with me. Now with my own health issues I carry one just for that reason. Other wise to me they are a waste of time. To many people live by thier phones and let them dictate thier lives. Its as bad as tv's video games and helis some get obcessed with them.

hate it

I think its ridiculus. One text conversation could take and hour, if you just call the person its a five minute conversation. My wife thinks its awesome of course. She can send around 4-500 a month and think its not that much. Her brother totalled his truck about 4 blocks from my house because he was texting and didnt see the car stopped waiting to turn in front of him. Brand new Ford F250 superduty diesel king ranch truck gone because of that crap. Im not against it unless people are doing it while driving, if your not driving than its not a bad thing at all.

On average I send about 2500-3000 a month...and receive about the same. And I'll admit that I used to text A LOT when I was driving. I was doing it on a Palm Treo 700wx. Which I would text on so much that I could do it without having to really look at it...so it wasn't too bad. Now a couple weeks ago I picked up the Blackberry Storm...I love it...but it's impossible to text without looking. And right away I had a close call while driving...so no more of that for me. Now I just wait till I'm at a light or get to where I'm going.

As of Jan 1st it will be illegal here in California to text while driving. But the first offense is only a $20 ticket. After that it's $50 I think. So I'm not sure how much of an impact it will have.

I'm here to chew some bubblegum and kick some heli ass...And I'm all out of bubblegum.

I do agree that. texting whilst driving is stupid. and should be illegal. I think that talking on the phone is much more personable the only reason I have texting is because none of my friends will talk on the phone anymore. you know who you are. if I didn't have to text every day I'd gladly give it up.

166 texts a day is not even that much, probly lots of days I will send way more. 166 texts is not much at all when you think about it, 7-10 texts to 15-20 people.
