Looks like he wasn't comfortable with nose-in and cut the collective too quickly...a common mistake that newbies make with CP helis. The slow motion video is very interesting...the anatomy of a heli crash . It's amazing all that happens in just one second.

One of the first things to replace on a stock HBK2 are the dampeners. This guy should not have had to suffer that kind of damage from a tail boom strike. Search for 'Dougs windshield wiper hose mod', replace the stock dampeners and tighten that head. That minor pilot error would not likely turn into a 2-3 hour repair (if you know what you're doing) if the head was not so mushy out of the box.

Hope he can salvage the TG!

ON the CNC head I have gotten 2 different length spindles both in E-sky packaging. Although the stock dampeners are mushy and almost need replaced after every crash. They can be stiffened up by a shoulder washer and crushed into the dampener seat. Its gotta be the right thing to do Align does it on the TREX.

Trex doubleups o-rings and squashes them but now you can buy solid dampeners like the windshield wiper hose mod.
(they are watching you dougie)

notice part 19&20 thicker washer gives tighter quicker response.

Yep, tighter dampners and also it appears he is using plasti-blades as well Back in the day with my first Blade CP I tried plasti-blades and said - WOW , I'll never have to replace the blades again I didn't, but I replaced eveything else including 10 booms Didn't even realize loose dampning and heavy blades caused mass-destruction It finally sunk in however !!

Yep, all that spinning energy has to go someplace and something has to give. That is why wood blades are the "relief valve", so to speak, for saving the head from damage.... Changing blades is cheap and easy, waiting for parts to repair the head assembly is alot more costly, in time and money..... But you guys all know that already....

Tom..... No "D" flying....

Buddy bought his Blade cp pro a week before me used plastic blades and TG. He quit all together spending $40 or more a week rebuilding it He still has the blades though. And never got to a decent tailin hover before he totally quit I got him back into coaxials last year with the cocomanche but thats done now too.

Maybe he should of bought a TREX?
