I have searched this forum for an answer to my problem without success, so forgive me if has already been addressed.
I am using the HC Rigid in stabilization mode only and using the internal tail gyro through a Futaba 9452, mainly because I already had it and I prefer to use an all 6 volt system, and, although its not the fastest servo out there, I feel for scale it should be ok.
I have the tail setup mechanically.
The instruction call for the tail to be set by using the tx trims to achieve a state where the servo can be set to any position and wont drift. By this I mean wont move from the position it is set to.
This is still setup on the ground.
No matter what I do I can have x amount of trim on the tx but after a while the servo will begin to drift.
Any answers gratefully received.

nzreg,

I'm using the internal gyro with a 9254 and yes, mine still drifts a bit after a while. Just trim it (on the ground) so it holds pretty good and you should be fine. Also, I find using the Tx rudder subtrim better since it covers all your flight modes at once.

Cheers,
TomC

Thanks Tom,
I did wonder if it was because of my "slow" servo, I will take your advise and set with subtrim, then do final trim at field.
How do you like using the HC? I wouldn't be without mine, I am going flybarless in February and will activate the Rigid feature at that time.

nzreg,

I've had my HC-Rigid for over 6 months now and really like it. It's currently on my 10s Trex600e flybarless heli and it works great.

Once you trim the tail on the ground in HH, you should not have to re-trim this again, just play with the gain a bit. later, you will just need to mechanically adjust the tail link so that non-HH holds ok.

I'm pretty sure that your 9452 on 6v should be plenty fast enough imop. Just don't expect fut611 gyro performance, more like a fut401, which is fine for me.

What heli are you using your HC on?

Cheers,
TomC

Hi Tom,
A Raptor E-550 stretched to 620mm blades, still pretty much learning to fly but will be going flybarless in the new year.
Next Winter I will be fitting this mech to a Funkey Bell 222 fuse.

Reg,

Sounds like a good heli to do this on and very a nice scale project.

By the way, you can activate the Rigid mode, even with a flybar. I did this initially to test it out on my Trex600e. It makes the flybared heli even more stable, esp. in high winds. Just use the fader mode to find the right rigid gains then go to fixed mode and you can then use pos/horiz stablisation as well.

Good luck and cheers,
TomC
