Dear Fellow pilots
Given the choice which servo would you choose to put in a Vario Benzin Trainer??

Align DS 620/610
OR
ACE (TT) DS1015
OR
something else????

Whats your thoughts please. I like 'em both!

Cheers
Ade

From what I gathered from looking it up it is an 800mm bird correct? So something like futaba 9252 or some JR 8231 or 8717 i would not use aligns or ace servos that is to big of a bird to have a failure on. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the other servos just that I would get some jr or futaba servos.

Choice

Thank Solman for the advice.
Now you have put the cat among the pigeons!
I thought I had it narrowed to the two given that I think Futaba and JR are over priced
But now I have an even bigger decision!
And yes you are right I am swinging 810mm blades!!
Thanks again
Adrian

I've been using a set of Ace 1013's (forerunner of 1015's)in a Trex 600, Fury Extreme and recently a Trex 700. This set has been in regular use for over 2 years with no problems at all, they work perfectly and are fast and centre well, they will work just fine in a Benzin trainer.

I've not used the Align 610 servos personally but I know a lot of people are using them on Trex 700's very sucessfully.

Futaba & JR are good servos but you don't need to spend what it would cost to buy 8717's for your application, in fact the great majority of flyers don't need super fast, super expensive servos.

I would not hesitate for a moment to use the ACE srvos. I have been running them in my Synergy for over a year, and before that they were in a rappie 60. They have been flown extremely hard with ZERO slop. THey center and fly just as good today as they did when I bought them. I like them so much I have another set in my Trex700 with the same reliability. IMHO the ACE servos are one of the most under rated servos out there.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Your right SRH, I dont need super fast, I want the comfort of torque and as the Vario uses push/pull, they are all going to be over engineered anyway!

And as ACE seems to be the choice so far I might just head that way.
I know JR and Futaba are supposed to be the best but I haven't got best money!

Thanks again for the feedback guys!

Just so you know. My Ace on the Synergy have been run at any and all voltage configs from 4.8 all the way to unregulated for a few months. I now run them on SG reactor regs set at 6.8. They also are a very quick servo .10@6v an 201oz of torque.

Jst an FYI aslo; THe splines are the same as futaba. SO futaba arms work well. The arms that came with the ACE (only one) is BEEFY but the 2 sides are not symetrical ie; one side is even measurements the other is odd. SO setting up push pull is a pain without using different arms.

Oh my

Cheers Baddraptor

I saw the arm was about twice as thick of the Futaba one. The problem now of course is that Futaba arms might not be up to the job so now I have to potentially spend even more on upgrading the arms to aluminium ones!

I intend on running 6v so thats no problem.

This gets worse! ha ha

Thansk for the heads up and feedback though.
Your Synergy looks (how you say) Awesome!!!
