I want to know if there is a way to change the plastic white stock color of the fins and landing gear on a heli to a brighter color so that it is more visable in the air.
Thanks

Use Rit Dye

You bring the water and dye up to a boil or almost a boil in a large pan and then put the parts in. Wait a few minutes and scoop em out.
Works best when changing the color of white parts.

Experiment with an old broken piece if your unsure.

Read the instructions, and make sure your wife is not at home.

Rit Dye

To change the color of plastic using Rit dye first you need to boil a pot of water. Stir in the dye after the water boils and reduce the heat to a simmer. Use some tongs to dip your plastic parts in the dye and pull them out when you are satisfied with the color. This typically does not take long at all. Sometimes only a few seconds will do. Finish by rinsing in cool water, dry and install.

Note: I would only advise dying parts that are made of White Nylon plastic. Not all types of plastic are capable of absorbing the dye. Parts made of Nylon work best because the plastic is porus and allows the dye to penetrate. Also many types of plastic are not capable of withstanding much heat and will deform if submerged in boiling dye.

Be sure to use an old pot or kettle that you do not care about. The dye can stain the pot!!! Might not happen the first time, but it will eventually. Trust me... Don't put yourself in the dog house by trashing your wife's or mothers favorite pot.
