I purchased a set of factory metal blade grips for my raptor (part # PV 0339). I took the plastic ones off and installed the metal ones, they are already assembled with the inner bearing outer bearing thrust bearing and shim. After installing them there was end play like there was a shim missing? I ended up taking the metal blade holders apart to see if they were assembled correctly. They were, no missing shims, but yet there is end play. I even checked to see if the feathering spindle was the right length.Dose anyone know if there is something special you need to use when using the metal grips? It has the factory metal block and I was going to finish it out with the metal blade holders, I put it back together with the old plastic parts and other than the wobbled out plastic it's fine... Any ideas?

Check your thrust bearings.

Make sure you dont have an In/In on one side and an Out/Out on the other side.

Are you putting the flap collar back on between the damper and outer bearing?

Bearing are as they are supposed to be large diameter closest to main shaft and the flap collar is also where it needs to be. That's why I don't understand why there is end play.. It is all in correctly,I have put it together plenty of times before with the plastic blade holder doing GM to it. The only different thing this time is the metal blade grips??????

Take the spindle out and check that the socket head screws actually do up all the way. I have had an experience where another person had used loctight on these screws and after this they wouldn't screw up all the way.

Like 770 said, is the thick washer installed between the dampener and the inner radial bearing?

Even if the thrust bearings are installed with the ID's the wrong way, it won't make the bearing stack any longer.

Well, what it seemed to be was the dampners. When I replaced them the problem went away. They looked goodbut must have been compressed. Thank all for your input and help...
