I`m building the Quick world Wide, Bat V2 26cc Gasser . So far , realy a nice heli and awsome build.
I am just about thru with the build and I am at the battery systems on it. I am at a loss , cause this is my first gasser of anything , and I need to know what batteries to use for the R/X and the 26cc Zenoah with electronic ignition.
I am using some S9402 Futaba analog servos/ 0.10 sec/60° and 111 oz-in. of tork on 6 volts , metal gear for the cyclic.
Using the gy401/s9254 for the tail , and an HS 635HB Hitec for the throttle...
Any and all suggestions would be greatful.
Do I need 2 seperate batteries for the R/X and the ignition ? THANKS!!

Hi Jimbo:

Really, your best option is to use a Jewel generator as your primary power source and a single battery pack for backup for the radio system. I know others may disagree, but I'd go with something on the order of 3000 to 4000maH for the battery pack because you have a lot of digital servos. Run the power lead from the Jewel's output directly to your receiver, then use a switch and harness from the battery to another channel of your receiver (you can plug the battery power into any channel on the receiver, since the "+" and "-" leads are common buses).

I think it would also be safer to go with a separate pack for the electronic ignition. Check with Raja on this site (who builds the Jewel), and he may be able to custom configure a dual output generator for you.

The point I want to get across here is the importance of running a generator as your primary source for power. There just isn't a safer way to go.

I've never ran a gen(but i've drank alot of it)lol , no for real on my gas planes i've always ran two bats, one for the rx and one for the ign, because on the OLD 72mhz you would get rf from running one bat. so on my new bat i'm going to run a 5200mah on rx and a 2600 mah fromeco on the ign. One Arizona reg and one standered reg,i know its a lot of weight but i know it will work good. But i'm like you on this one i would like to know a less heavy way of doing it?

Thanks

Thanks Excaliber and smallplanes for the good info.
My thinking is the same as smallplanes on using a seperate battery for the ignition; I am using 2.4 Spektrum tho...
Of course I realy know next to nothing on gas powered aircraft so all information is welcome. Thanks guys!!

Depending on the RX you have you might have to upgrade this to have more spare channels so as to plug in the extra power lead.

I have the basic Futaba RX on my Gasser but have run out of channel slots. I do like the idea of a seperate power supply and the Jewel Generator is on the cards for sure.

Has anyone used the AR7100R with the RPM limiter successfully ?
It looks like just the R/X I need for my Bat 26cc v2.

Yes but the Jewel is the way to go, well tried and tested by many RR members

Can someone be a little more specific on the batteries ? Like what cell size and how many "mah" for the R/X and also for the ignition ?
All the electronics and engine I am using are on the first opening post. Thank you!!!

Hi Jimbo, I'm powering the electronics on my Quick gasser with two 2s A123 battery packs through an Emcotec DPSI BIC. The Emcotec gives you a clear understanding of the power requirements needed. I've had peaks of 7amps at times, granted only for a split second, and I'm not even running digital servos on the cyclic. I love the A123's for super fast charging in 15min. Here's some pics. Cheers, Kosta.

Awsome set-up kosta. Very nice equipment...
Would it be possible to use 2 x 3s1p 2500mah 25C Flightpower batteries and use 2 x Castlecreations 10amp BEC`s ; 0ne for the ignition and one for the R/X , the R/X set to 6 volts and the Ignition set to 5 volts ????? I have always ran regulated 6 volts on my gy401/s9254,so I do not need to step down the voltage on the gyro.... ... Thanks...

Dual output

Before leaving for vacation, I built a setup with 5.4v and 6.9v output for Wally to try out with the ignition on the motor that he has. Not sure if he tried it yet, but I expect it will work fine with two batteries, one 4 cell for the receiver and one 5 cell for the ignition (this is what he wanted).
