Sometimes ESCs fail with throttle wide open, I've seen it happen before.

That is a good point. but the smoke and flame were from the surrounding plastic and rubber bits burning.

I am biased....

I had the same happen with my heli many years ago.. It was and Eco8 with a brushed motor. I had no clue about gear ratios and the motor burst into flames...

I thought the negative pitch would put it out but it just stoked the flame... Not much damage..

Unlikely on a brushless set up , but on a brushed set up , a FET could go short circuit supplying full power to the motor

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Defentially a tail wag but I was noticing something like a nasty wobble! The entire heli was wobbling like something was totally out of ballance on the head. Without the Helicommand I think this thing would have been a bugger to fly.

It was funny and sad. Kind of like a clown driving around in one those little circus cars, picking up hookers.

Funny or Sad?
I'm undecided as to whether it's sad that it's funny, or funny that it's sad. The entire heli thing can be such an emotional rollercoaster!

I like how he calmly waited for the blades to stop before doing anything.
Maybe that's just the way one reacts when you have money to burn.

The gain on the tail was way too high and it look like HC was disabled when he was doing his hands free demo. And to top it off the heli burst into flames (always hard to watch).

Sorry but that's well on the funny side.

I have had 2 speed controllers burn out with smoke but no flames. It makes me have second thoughts about spooling up the 450's in the house now

I have a LOT of other reasons for not spinning up in the house....

Not the least of which is my Wife who would commit GreatBodilyHarm to me if I smashed anything of sentimental value.

LOL. I did it once....and caught hell for it.

i guess his lawn and wood blades were more important then the heli, i woulda shoved it into the ground if i cant find anything better to fight the fire.. but definatly last resort.. heck he probably could have smothered it with the canopy

Yeah, did you see the tracking going in and out. This helicopter had some issues. I'm at 75% funny 25% sad.
