I am thinking about buying one of these but before I do I wanted to see what everyone on this forum has to say about them.

Interested in comments from those that have used them good or bad.

So please chime in.

Merry xmass to you all.

They work great. But, like all things that are mass produced, there have been a few with issues. However, Align has been pretty good about taking care of them.

The 2in1 is a great item. Just make sure you don't get the combo. The battery that comes with the combo is less than ideal. Pair the 2in1 with your favorite lipo RX pack, and you're good to go

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..

I've had great luck with the battery. 1900mah, gives 4 good flights on a 50. great value, and I've never had any problems.

Ya know, as much as I don't WANT to trust any Align electronics, I have NEVER had a problem in the last two years. I used a 6amp regulator on my last heli for over a year and still no issues. The 2 in one seems fine.

For some reason, I would be uncomfortable using the 2 in 1 in my Fury, but in a 50 it seems to work great.

+1. Nob problems here with the NEW version. I like it because its a regulator with a built in glow ignitor that also has a glow plug status indicator. One less item to carry at the field. Works like a champ!

I have two of them with the stock battery, and have never had a problem with them.

+1 for the Align 2 in 1.

I have been using the original version on my 600 for about 8 months with no issues at all. I sealing it up with Hot Glue from the git go and it has worked great. (The new version has a plastic case to protect the switch set, the old version used heat shrink plastic)

I also use a Fromeco 7.4 volt 5000mah batt with mine. (maybe a 4800,cant remeber and too cold in the garage to go look :>

My next nitro will have one on it also, its just too easy to use rather than carry a glow igniter and a volt watch.

Good luck

I picked up one because I was too cheap for a "good" regulator. I had a flight where the machine pitched up, engine died, and I couldn't get any response before it hit. Investigation found the 2-1 no longer lights the glow plug. Did the 2-1 fail? cause a RX reset? Did the crash kill the glow ignighter? Supidly, I've had about another six flights on the reg, without using the glow, however I did extensive bench testing including vibration and couldn't get any sign of failure from the reg. I want to blame the reg, I really can't say. I won't feel good until I put an Arizona/Reactor/new spektrum regulated RX. I was just waiting till the holidays are over.

I have an old "original" style that has well over a year on it now, no problems. I did hot-glue-gun all the wires coming out of the unit and changed the JST battery connector to a Dean's. This is running three 9252's, Hitec HS525 with a TJPro on throttle and currently a TT TG7000/606 on the tail. Performs great. I really like the stack of LED's that let you know when voltage is near/at 7V - time to recharge.

EDIT: Actually, I do have one problem with it - the alligator clip that connects to the glow plug is badly worn down from the vibrations. I may just replace it with a R/C car body clip though that's a pain on the Hyper's head.

I also agree, great on the 50's, I personally wouldn't run one on a 90. Arizona is a great regulator there or just go straight A123's and avoid the regulator all together.

I think it's a great product and have been using it on my 600 and 700. I use a 2s2p 3400mA flightpower on my 600 and 4340mA 2s2p flightpower on my 700. Can fly all day on those packs. I thought the glow part had gone on one of the 2 in 1's and it wouldn't glow for a couple flights and it turned out to be the croc clip.

This is just what I am after.

The general confidence here in this regulator is positive, but for some reason there does seem to be a myth going around about the reliability issue of align electronics, in the sense that some dont trust them. I got that feeling also from some of the posts, that some wont trust them in a 90 size ship.

But on the whole pretty positive.

Thank you all.

That's happened with mine a few times - just wiggle the glow plug clip and that'll usually reestablish the electrical connection.

Completly true. The problem I THINK is this: If you spend $2500-3000 on a 90, most people FEEL that a $40 regulator cannot be trusted..for whatever reason.

On my 90, I use the Arizona.

My Son got me one for Christmas, but I'm not sure if I can use it on my Titan 50. I'm using 9252 x 4, Futaba 401 w/9254, and an Aerospire MultiGov Pro . If I use a step-down for the tail will the 9252's handle the 5.8 volts.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

I have ran my 9252's on an Align 6V regulator for 2 years now, the last year using the 2-in-1. No problems. You run into an issue with the 9252's if you run them on an unregulated 5 cell pack as they come off the charger over 7V

I believe that you could use the stepdown before the receiver, that way the whole system would only receive the same kind of voltage it would be likely to see using a fully charged Nimh or Nicad pack.

If you cant I am sure someone will correct me.

I don't think you want to do that, I'll bet that diode isn't rated for that much current. Besides it's not needed. The 9252's do fine on the regulated 5.8-5.9V that these regulators put out.

Or I could get five step-down's (just kidding) what a wiring mass that would be.
Thanks for the info and advice.
