I am trying to setup a Solid G from Curtis Youngblood and I can not get it to go into the setup mode. I have the display module and pressing the button for 6 to 10 sec does nothing at start up. I do get the green light for 5 or so seconds then it goes out, The display shows the credic screeen but nothing else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this with a G-View? If your battery is 4 cell and even the slightest bit low, the G-View/Solid G can be tempermental to get into config mode . . .

Hi lejon,

Here's what I do after all connections are completed on the Solid-G....

1st) Turn on the transmttter and make sure it's bound to the receiver. (Can't get into setup mode without a transmitter signal)

2nd) Your G-View should be reading "Battery is XX volts".

3rd) Press the "P" button and hold it until the "Setup/Display" mode appears. Sometimes, depending what you use to press the buttons, it's possible to hit the PC board instead of the button. You can always tell when you press the button correctly because you can feel a click.

Now, you can turn off your transmitter and continue with your Solid-G setup.

Solid G set up

Tadawson- Thanks it is a 4 cell and I had been running it for a while setting up the other servos. I will charge it and check again.

Sky Dancer - Thanks to you too. They show in the diagram that there are buttons on the top front edge of the controller but I only have recessed buttons on the end, is that what you have?

Second do you leave the display unit connected after setup or do you remove it for flight?

Merry Christmas to everyone

The buttons are on the end, and yes, you remove the display before flight . . .

That is what I thought since it is optional to start with.

I changed the battery for a fresh full charged one and still did not get into the setup. It is 39 F and only reached 44 today, would you recommend that I take the gyro inside and warm it to 70F or would it be better to use a 5 cell (at least for setup)? Also I have digital servos installed so could they be loading such as to drop the voltage too low?

Press the P button on the gyro while powering up. Hold for 6-10secs. My v1 solid-g was like this although the v2 and v3 will enable the g-view after power up.

Try it, its worth a shot.

Pressing the buttom while powering up did not work. I am bringing it inside to warm up and will try again in the morning.

Thanks

I had to warm up the heli and then I disconnected the servos (except rudder) and it went into setup mode without a hitch.

It is now set up and working.

Merry Christmas.
