O.K... I FINALLY got all the controls working properly, and everything going the correct direction in the "Diagnose" panel of the Helicommand software. After reading everything I could find here on RunRyder on the subject, I've got the "Pilot" and "AutoTrim" functions activated.

But I am very surprised at how little movement (on the swashplate) that I am getting from the Helicommand. If I tilt the helicopter radically... like 45 degrees... either forward or side to side.. the swashplate displaces maybe 1/16 of an inch.

Moving my warm hand closer and further from the Spartan AP-2000 that I had got much more swashplate movement.

I have the gains cranked up to 90% in the software. It seems like I should be getting more action. Correct?

Also... based on what I have read, I've taped over the lens on the "Postiion Hold" gizmo.... and set the Mixer for "AutoTrim Only"
Is this correct?

Thanks!

i wouldn't worry about getting too little movement. fly it, and I think you'll be surprised.

Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

Hi Rhett,

After my previous post, I did fly it. I can't see that the "stabilization" is doing anything. I've got the "Pilot Gain" set on a rotating lever on the side of my JR 12X. My understanding (and confirmed by the "Diagnostics" readout in the software) is that the lower half of the travel increases gain for the Position function (further away from center is more) and the upper half of the travel is for the Horizontal stabilization. (further away from center is more).

I lifted off with the lever centered....hovered, and then increased the Horizontal gain... gradually increasing to 100%. I couldn't see that there was any effect. The heli felt just the same.. on or off.

I'll try it again tomorrow....but it just doesn't seem to be doing anything. Now it's not doing anything BAD either... so I guess that's a good thing...

Happy Holidays!

Did you go thru the SET button procedure after trimming (on TX) to a "hands free hover" in NORM mode on your first test hover? If not that is what is needed.

Try it. It does a great job and uses as much travel as is necessary.

Due to intervention by this thing called "Christmas", I didn't get to test fly again today.... but I am finding time to express my confusion.

Doesn't enabling the "Auto Trim" feature, where the Helicommand gets it's trim info set by twisting the appropriate knob on the transmitter... ELIMINATE the need to push buttons after landing, etc.?

I thought it was one or the other... but maybe it is BOTH?

Merry Christmas!

The SET button procedure tells the HC what is "level" and the relation of how the sensor is mounted. You should only have to do the SET button procedure once then you just fine tune "level" with the auto trim feature (if you change the CG, wind etc...)

Yep, if you can do the the SET button procedure on a calm day with the CG as perfect as possible it will work that much better. I find once its set I don't have to really mess with it again. I do auto trim every 1-2 flights as needed.

Note: During the SET button procedure, you will use the TX trims to adjust to "hands free hover". Just make sure you never move the TX trims again or else you will have to repeat the SET procedure.

Enjoy.
