It`s my third conversion (and 6-th E-heli). First conversion (Evo EX) was finished two years ago and deeply modifyed several times till now. My LiPo conception is described in the first posts link. I have tryed different motors and gears with my Evo EX. Now I have installed Plettenberg Orbit 25-18XL motor on it and waiting for spring weather to continue testing. Previous one - Kontronik Kora Top 30-14 motor was successfully tested (see Evo EX video on link) during last summer and now is used in this new project.
Kontronik Kora Top 30-14 motor is 14 magnetic poles outrunner:
http://www.kontronik.com
kV = 340, 8S LiPo max. rated, more than 2kWt cont. input power, max. peak current about 80A, weight - 404gr.
According to my LiPo concept I use 8S setup (2 X 4S) on 50 class helis. Main gear ratio - 87T X 20T = 4,35 (up to 1900rpm on rotor).
4000mAh 20C is optimum for this setup.

EVO conversion

Can you take picture of the starter bearing? I'd like to see how you placed the bearing to alow alignment with a larger pinion.

I fill all space for old starter bearings with epoxy for each side of frame separatly, then drill new hole for new bearing.

Looks like you've got e-converting down to an art, nice job!

Does that 4 blade head come in any larger sizes? Who makes it?

Cheers,

Patrick

I came into conclusion that HV BEC for conversions should have standard servo size and be placed instead one of nitro servos.

Motor Mount

Paul

On the photos posted you have a lot of holes on the top of the mount, apart from the hole for mounting the motor through what are the rest for. I noticed that you only have one positive fixing point in which you have a bolt. What else hold the mount into position.

Motor Mount

Chris

Top side: 4 inner holes(small) - for motor fixing, 4 inner holes(big) - add. inlets for motor cooling, 4 outer holes - for weight saving.
Bottom side: 6 M3 nut-holes - for motormount to (through) main frame fixing(see last bottom view).
This motormount sits very tightly between halves of main frame . 6 M3 bolts - are enough for sure.
