After crashing, due to the set screws backing off on the beveled gear and loosing the tail, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this bird. I was not going to make it a glow machine and I didn't like what I had done with the first conversion. This is what I came up with that I like much better and takes a lot of the extra weight out that was there before. Since the packs will be forward of center, they will compensate for the extra weight of the motor being in the rear. Those packs are two 6S 5000 Performance Plus packs. I will use a Scorpion HK4035 500kV motor with 12S and a 10.3:1 gear ratio. Also used is a CC HV85 in fixed throttle points and an ATG V3, set to 1:1 gear ratio.
I'll post more pics after I receive and get some more of the parts installed.

Hi Stanc,

Looks good. I looked in to converting one of these a while ago but then the TREX 700 came along and that was easy with all the ready made conversions. Now I have seen this I may look again to have a 90 size electric with the quality of the Avro would be good.

Look forward to seeing more of the build.

The quality is beyond anything out there except for a MA machine, if you don't take the manual into consideration. The Avro manual is really great step by step and their customer support is the best, even if it is in the UK.

I'll be posting more pics as soon as I get the motor and can continue with the build.

So far that's the only safe way i know of to run a gov on a castle Hv controller.

The packs set where they are shown in the first two pics and it appears now with it basically finished that it will balance pretty close.

The new CY ATG V3 has a gear ratio of 1:1 for electric helis and it works where the CC HV ESCs governors are somewhat lacking in performance.

I have a Perfect Regulator coming that I going to use in place of the UBEC so I can run 6v to the 8311s.

I thought the Cy's were only for nitro birds, I have only used CC and since all the concerns with the GOV mode I have switches to Kontronik Jive 80HV.

I like the reg suitable for 8V. If only they now produced a version capable of 6S or 12S input like my Western Robotics then you could run 8v without a separate lipo RX.

It is kind of strange that CYI never has advertised, that I know of anyway, that the V3 ATG can be used for electrics. The only way I found out is because Curtis told me about the 1:1 ratio before it actually was available to buy.

As far as the regulator, there are a lot of guys that don't like using a separate RX pack, but I'm not one of them. I've never experienced losing the main packs, but that's not to say it want happen.

Has the head & reg arrived yet? I'm keen to know how the reg makes out as it's such a small package & I see it is half the weight of the similar scott gray - reactor x and is capable of 8v where the ractor is not

I got the regulator set it up and installed it. I like the regulator and the way it installs and the way you can adjust the voltage to the servos. Still waiting on the one way from Blitz, e-mailed Neal the other day and he said I should have already received it since he sent it air mail. Maybe today, I hope.

Are the HVs still having problems with the Gov. What's it been like 3 years now

I use throttle curves and haven't loaded any new firmware in mine for about a year now. I guess that was a wise decision. I got so tired of srewing with the gov mode.

Bobby gets to sit around and play with them all day long now

I haven't paid attention lately but I know when they first came out with the new supposedly plug & play Gov mode I didn't hear a consensus that they were good. It was the usual. Some people said it was great but most said it sucked like the previous what 50 revisions

But that was like 6 months ago maybe they've tweaked it a little.

The damn thing is going to need a 100 gig memory before long

Yeah no doubt.. I have a AR7100R reciever i was thinking of connecting a optical sensor to it. But I might just try the
CC governor.

I use the governor in a HV85 in my Ion X2, the other helis have an ATG. The HV85 seems to work fine, even on 12S. I haven't used the new firmware yet, kind of afraid to until I do some reading up on how it all works.
