Last Sunday, at the end of my day, I had noticed that I could move the tail rotor 45 degrees in either direction without the main rotor moving.

So, I did the usual check up to see if any gears were missing teeth and I found nothing.

Tonight I disassembled the tail and found this!!!!!!

The Pin had stripped out in the tube, not stripped any gears or anything. I know this happened in flight because I never hit the tail that day.... anyone else have something like this happen?

That is odd, good you found it before it became a bigger issue.

Looks like the pin came out a bit & wore away. It needs to be in both holes to stop that from happening. That is why the 500 & 700 torque tubes come with plastic retainers that clip over the pins to stop them from coming out.

The 600 TT is an old design. You could use the retainers off a broken 700 TT or just heatshrink over the pins.

The replacement TT (since several months ago) all come with the band around them now. Guess you have not had to replace your TT in 6 plus months.

the pins were epoxied in in tube so they couldn't have gone one way or another, in fact the pin was still centered in the tube with equal amounts sticking out both sides.

as for that one, I don't think I want to.... I enjoy not having stuff to fix.

The tube that you have is from the first version, the updated tube has a plastic retainer at both ends to prevent this from happening.
