I inadvertinly found the guy that made them

I'm trying to talk him into making more but there needs to be sufficient interest in these to bring him around.

this is what the updated glasses would look like

Hi Blade_Master1

Definitely interested.
Let me know if you go thru with your project.
If you don’t I would probably try to make one for me.

Heli-tach Glasses. Would you ....

Yes. I'm keen but do you have any idea of the cost?

I would like to know a ball park figure before I commit myself.

Good find!

Cheers,

Jack

the Tach version between 90-120 US
pro version with hud around 150-200 US

Good stuff Blade Master1.

I'll be in it.

Why not post a thread in Main discussion describing them.

I think you will generate a lot more interest in them.

Cheers,

Jack

Put my name on the list also.

What's the advantage of this over a standard optical tach? You can't tach yourself while you're flying can you? If yes, then maybe. If not, then it's just one more way to make myself look like a dork. I don't need help.

You could tach it yourself as long as you remeber your blades will stop turning at some point
set the tach to the desired HS then adjust your curves to get the blades to look like they stop turning
Just don't freak out when they do

And how would you work the controls to change the speed of the drum? Through the power of your mind? I know that I need BOTH my hands to fly the thing. I suspect most people are the same.

Will it come with foot pedals? Brain wave measuring electrodes? Cuz if it's hand controls, I'm pretty sure I'd have problems taching myself.

It all seems like a big waste of money to me. I'm sure these are FAR more expensive than a standard tach. I'll just get one of my buddies to do it for me with my $100 tach instead of fumbling like a retard to do it myself with my $400 fancy tach.

For the reading impaired

1 set the tach to the desired HS.
2 then adjust your throttle curves to get the blades to look like they stop turning

there not 400$
they would be less than 200$

For the logically impaired:

If you can't adjust the drum to your CURRENT headspeed, how do you know whether your curves need to be adjust up or down? imho, you need to be able to tell what your current headspeed is. Otherwise there's just too much fiddling around.

1 There isn't a drum, it is a digital read out.

2 If the continue to turn counter clockwise your over your target headspeed, if they are turning clockwise you're under the target headspeed.

Anyway because of the costs involved I have decided not to pursue having these manufactured.

I would have had to sell 24 pairs to break even and at this time I don't feel it is worth my time due to the attitudes of certain individuals
