I was just curious if any of you are amateur radio operators? Amateur radio is my other primary hobby. My call sign is KC9IPP.

We certainly are.
You have time for other hobbies? That's impressive.
Would you also believe that photography is my third hobby?

The nice thing about amateur radio is that you really don't have to make that much time for the hobby. For example, I have a 2m/440 mobile transceiver installed in my vehicle; therefore, I can participate in the hobby anytime I am driving. I often also carry a 2m/440 handheld transceiver with me, as well...even when flying my helis. Speaking of handheld transceivers, I'm hoping Santa will be dropping the Icom IC-92AD by my home on Christmas Eve .

Former. My dad I think still has his liscence.
KF4TE is my dad
N4OSX was mine. I let it expire I think 10 years ago.
I pretty much just used it for 2m to talk to my dad (before cell phones).
I used to work at a Ham Radio store back in the 80's
Funny story is while in college, I had an X.25 Packet radio system. I would send messages to my dad from Louisiana (email sort of).
One time it only took 6 hours to get to Virginia. I sent it on a Sat morning and it got there in the afternoon. VHF relay was manually sent from Baton Rouge to Richmond. That was in 1985.
I don't think my dad has touched a radio in a couple years either.

Purchased my first PC at a Ham Fest while in college Sr. Year. Purchase raw parts and put it together myself. Darn me, I still do that. That's why I have 7 working computers in the house. I can't throw away my ART!

Ham turned me onto Computers, computers drove me to the Internet.

Yup, I'm a ham. Been flying on 50MHz since I started in RC and just converted to 2.4GHz this year.

I have a few HTs and have been playing with DSTAR a little. No HF gear and no plans for it in the future. Just 2m/440 for me.
