It seems no matter how long the weather has been holding me back from flying, I just can't get entertained with my sim. It never fails; after about 5-10 minutes or so I just get bored and start seeing how bad I can crash etc and then turn it off. Am I alone on this one or what?

I can spend hours on my Sim.... I try to fly it the same as I would the real thing.... muscle memory is very important to me.... I have found that it translates pretty well to the real world.

I sold another one to Terrafirma...... wife wants to know where the money's at!!!!

Not alone. You have to set yourself a goal or have a plan in hand before hopping on to play and only allow yourself about 5-10 minutes intervals. It helps to work on one move so you don't wander off doing whatever. I don't get bored that easy because I try to make the best of it however, after I reach the one-hour mark... I start to loose interest.

Do this, record yourself flying on the sim, then watch it. You can really see your mistakes and see what needs fixin'

Have a plan. Have a set of 2-3 maneuvers to work on BEFORE you sit down. Then work on those and only those for 10-20 minutes. Then do hovering maneuvers and if you are competent at that then work on flying around upright and inverted whilst pirouetting. After that goof off and just fly around for 10 minutes. That makes for a good 20-30 minute SIM session that has value IMO.

Only through discipline is the SIM a tool and not a toy...
