DS821's are 88oz at 6v and .15 on speed. They should be fine for sport flying, just keep in mind that most people running direct linkage like on the Pantera prefer a beefier servo as it takes some punishment with no bell cranks.

Looks like your well on your way to a great flying machine sir, if you have any questions don't hesitate to post up..... no question is too dumb although some of the answers you may get in the general forums are.... stick with us, you'll be fine...LOL

I sold another one to Terrafirma...... wife wants to know where the money's at!!!!

Do a search on the DS821 here on RR...from what I've read...I'd suggest placing them into a craft that's expendable...or better yet, a test stand.

In a word...

Reliability.

Your other choices look good!

Maybe one of the DS821s on the CSM?!

Keep us posted on your success.

I'm corn-fused?!

Dualing topics!

I wouldn't run the DS821s due to the "30-size" limitation and great vibrations that are carried through the frames on a heli...get something known to work.

Futaba...9252, 9155 are my experience...lieterally 400+ flights in past 3 seasons...with my share of crashes. Couple of times bewteen rebuilds I even sent the servos in to the Service Center to get them checked-out...always fine (think a 9252 needed a new gear set after a really good crash). They also run at 6Vdc via Arizona regs...9252 stated as a 4.8 only...but has "proven" itself at 6Vdc without issue.
9155 is rated for 6...and is super-strong.

I'd look into the new brushless servos if the budget allows...faster and stronger than my older servos.

From a futaba orange bleeder!

GV-1 works fine for Sport and mild 3D. I've upgraded to Multi-gov's late this season...I've grown into a more aggressive 3D'r...and was having over-rev problems on rapid downward vertical moves.
The GV-1 has a "secret menu" that probably has the setting I needed to adjust...but the Service Center won't pass along that info...and it's not published. AeroSpire's Multi-gov has the settings clearly defined in the instructions...and immediately my over-rev was no longer an issue.

lotta ins, lotta outs

OOps, once again, specs alone aren't enough, I didn't see the quote on horizons site about 30size machines..... but, conventional wisdom still says that 88oz of torque is fine for sport flying....

Dont use those servos in any heli - they are marginal at best and have failed for MANY pilots even in a hover. I have personally witnessed two of them fail - both times being flown on a new heli by a new pilot and just hovering. I wouldnt trust the DS821s in ANY heli, but thats just me.

May I make a suggestion....

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...p?&I=LXPHD5&P=0

These are what I have in my Pantera and before that my Tiger.... they have been crashed 3 times and no issues what so ever, they are a bit cheaper but they are really hitec's that have been relabeled. The replacement gear set for them and case is the same as the hitec 5625mg and they will also work with the hitec programer

Love these little guys..... and they will save you some money.
