After several days of thinking and searching (and saving) for the choice servos for my Rave, I went with the JRDS285MG --I was undecided until I see that Curtis uses them, so that made the decision a little easier. I always liked them anyway. I was going to go with some ino-lab servos, but chose the DS285 instead. I have a 3400G coming and will use a 7703D gyro. I am going to play with some 340mm woodies and see how that goes. I just ordered a bunch of pinions but will mess with a 12T @ a 2400ish HS (for now). I will later (unless I have issue) boost it up. I have a mad t-rex which will cover higher HS thrills for now. I want to sport fly my rave for a while.

Your wooden blades - RUN !!

Carbon my friend, you are fearless !!

The memories of wooden blades are of learning with the Rappy 50 and forever trying to track them withthose stupid big yellow balls on the end of the training gear. Then someone asked if I had balanced my blades and I had. Then they asked if I had dynamically balanced them and I replyed "huh??...what's that mean".

We're spoilt with carbons Carbon (bad joke, couldn't resist), even the cheap ones, in so far as 99% of the time they're balanced well and won't explode mid air.

When they arrive, if they look even the slightest bit suss in the context of exploding doing high RPM's, you may whish to consider mixing some 12 minute epoxy and then thin out heaps with acetone and give the blades a once over. The acetone will let the epoxy seep in a little to the wood and obviously the epoxy will do what epoxy does.

Merry Xmas !

Thanks Goose. I fly my heli very far from me, so if it explodes, other than cost and repair time, I could care less. lol. I have not had such bad luck though with woodies. I run them on my Vibe 50 as well with out issue. Though, I will go to carbons soon as I tend to baby the Vibe (for now).

3Dx --I have the 287MG in my t-rex. I hope they do good. I may get that heli in the air finally this weekend.

Let me know how yours performs. I know you got the skills to wring them out. I also have the 290G tail servo as well on the rex. I love the size of those servos. Seems to be a much better fit for 450 size. Even over the Hitec hS65 series...

Yes speed looks excellent. However, I thought I heard that the torque did not cut it on the Rave. I'll see. Hope to fly my Rex with them this weekend.

Hey guys, is the Medusa 2A Bec enough for this heli on 3S? My setup would be CC45, Futaba 3156MG and the Logitech 2100/3100G combo. Or am I better off using the internal BEC of the ESC. Appreciate any inputs. Thanks.

check my gallary if you want to see what happens when you run wood blades. It's not pretty.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

CC I know you have a set of radix 325s I sent you =P

personally after a incident with my Trex 450 and woodies while doing mild 3D I will never ever wear another set of woodies unless its for a test hover below 2000 RPM or a scale bird.

when you spin this rave up with that -6 you are going to say &(@&^(@(^@))@ that's fast..

3100 RPM (which is what you will run with a 12t on a -6 ) is no joke and will rape wooden blades.

Make sure its way way away from you and be ready with the p[ocket book when ti does explode and it will.

and when blades go in mid air its like a bomb goes off in the heli.. its not pretty.
