Tomorrow, hopefully, my Xmas present from wifey pooh will arrive in time for her to neatly wrap and for me to carelessly rip open in great anticipation on Xmas day.
It's a Furion.
Now comes the bit where I need help.
This little birdy is not going to be abused in any great way, the only time I do real 3D is in the milliseconds before a crash, but, I can fly inverted, do piro flips and tic tocs on the sim and one day hope to extend this latent talent to real life flying.
So, for now I don't need to go overboard on the superduper quality/speed of components but would appreciate your inputs on what would be a good standard set-up for my kind of flying.
Batteries
Swash servos
Tail servo
Gyro
Motor/ESC
Money isn't really a problem but I don't want to waste it on things I don't need.
Thanks for any answers, and compliments of the season to you all.

Scorpion 2221-8 (use the 13 tooth pinion)
Scorpion 60 ESC
Futaba S3156 on cyclic (or Hitec MG-65)
Futaba S9257 on rudder
Futaba GY401 Gyro
Any 3S 2100-2600 mah battery pack

Set your idle1 at 100% all the way across, you'll be turning right around 3000 and the model flys great just like that. This is pretty much the 'box stock' setup that the model was developed with. You can do anything with this setup and not be disapointed.

Hitec now has a digital servo same size as the MG65. The HS-5065MG micro digitals reportedly center better than the 65s. Servo City is currently running a special on these.

I understand the servo horns on the Hitecs are beefier than the Futaba horns, although it doesn't bother me that the S3156 horns break when the heli crashes. Saves stress on the servos.

Servo output spline is smaller on the Futaba vs. the Hitec (hence the difference in arm).
I have the MG65's on one Furion and the Futaba 3156's on the other.
No problems with either

Thanks for your inputs. I think, for ease of availablity, I will go for the kcordelladvice. Just hope I can fly the thing as well as it deserves.

Just for follow-up, started the build yesterday and have it 95% completed but one of the blade grip hubs wasn't tapped so haven't been able to complete it. Off to the LHS tomorrow to get all the electric gear recommended but it doesn't look like I'll be flying it for a while until I get this problem sorted with Fast Lad. They aren't back in service until Monday.
Hope you all had a good Xmas.

Hi,

I also ordered my kit from Fast Lad and I'm waiting for it to arrive any day now... Is this a common problem?

Thanks,
G

I hope not. I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else. Just a bad bit of luck on my part, a defective piece slipping through QC. Hope you enjoy it, I don't do 3D, just got it for BS value and can't wait to get it in the air. Love my Trex and if this one is as good as advertised I'll be a happy bunny.
