CCPM, yes. Just send it to Horizon with a note stating that you want CCPM on your radio.

Spectrum: Only by adding a module.

Yes, if you have an older 8103, you can enable the CCPM menu yourself. The newer ones already had it enabled.

Yes, the Spektrum JR upgrade module will drop right in and work with no problems no matter which version of the 8103 you have.

-----
CCPM
Newer 8103's --

Turn on the transmitter in the SYSTEM menu mode (holding down the two lower left-buttons while you apply power), there should be a SWASH TYP menu entry. Select that menu, then select 3 servo, 120 degree mode.

-----
CCPM
OLDER 8103s:

If your 8103 is old enough, it has the ability to do CCPM mixing, however the CCPM feature is a software feature that was shipped from the factory in the disabled state. If your 8103 is that model, you can enable the CCPM swash mix feature without having to return the radio to Horizon.

-----

To ENABLE CCPM mode in an older 8103 transmitter, do the following:

1. select an unused model memory.
2. go to the model reset page for that model.
3. repeatedly press:

"+", gear(dn), "-", gear(up), "+", gear(dn), "-", gear(up).......

until the screen turns black. It should take maybe
6 cycles of +,-, gear(switch position change) to do it.

4. Once the screen is black, you can press UP.

Now you're in the correct screen. The first item is
SWASH and it should be INH. Press + or - to ACT
it.

Now press UP/DOWN simultaneously to get out of the
mode or just turn the TX off.

-----

In the instructions listed above the "+" is the "+" data key on the front panel. The "-" is the "-" key on the front panel. Gear up/Gear down -- that is the landing gear switch, it gets flipped alternately between UP and DOWN.

-----

Once you enable the CCPM feature, you should then be able to select 120 degree CCPM mixing in the SWASH TYP menu, and the SWASH MIX menu should be available to set the mix percentages for elevator, aileron, and pitch.

The "secret sauce" recipe was given to me by another RR member several years back. I've now made a PDF file of it, and loaded into my Gallery, here, at the bottom of the page...

http://runryder.com/helicopter/gall...CCPM_ENABLE.pdf

Though the 7202 is a nice radio, I think the 8103 is the better of the two...

Stick Dir reverses the throttle channel

Stick MOD enables Stick Mode Select.... however, if this is the ADT version with analogue throttle trim, you shouldn't try and change stick modes.

Wish someone had one for the DX7 and 9303 for centering the sticks.

Cool, thanks for clarifying that!

Is there a way to convert an Airplane version of the 8103 TX to a Heli version by switching the switches on the PCB and location in the housing?

I suppose it could be done. Study the pictures in the manual more closely to see the differences between switch locations and types between the Heli version and the Airplane version.

For instance, what is the flight mode switch on the Heli version of the 8103 is a three-position, short handled switch on the top left front corner, while in the airplane version, it's a long bat-handled three position switch on the left front panel. Both switches are three position, and you could swap them out, but the actuator handle length and type would not be the same as those switches on the Heli version.

Study the pictures closely, note the differences between the various switches...make the determination of what would move where, and what switches might need to be replaced. The conversion might be more time and trouble than it's worth.

I've looked over the manual and as you stated the flight mode switch is different but that can be easily changed as I can get these switches. It almost looks like the switch would completely swap sides and the PCB board plugs look exact. But I have a friend who's got the Heli version so we'll compare them side by side especially the secret menu options to see if there is something different there.

I'll be doing this later in the week but if i get it done i'll definitely post my conversion.

Thanks for the PDF and the help!
