recently at ac funfly my buddy ran into a problem with the plastic fan that runs in the aurora.well it was running at normal tempatures but the fan somehow got hot and warped, chewed up the fan shroud and what not.so we have come up with metal fans to replace them.they are cnc precision balanced and make it that much more durable under heat applications.has anybody else done this with theres as well?????

There has been some big threads on here for the ALgn Trex 600 Nitro metal fans. It was amazing how much design goes into Fan design, and the trade offs between airflow verses drag on the power train. The good news is the shroud is very well designed so a well thought out and tested fan would only compliment the system. I am interested in the design you have come up with just unsure of how much science is behind it?

Would love to see some tests with it verses the original fan to see if there is any improvement or losss in either power or cooling with this upgrade.

Has anyone else had trouble with the plastic fan, I know the little rexxy always did, however I have never heard of it on an Aurora?

well the design is the same exact design as the plastic one.its 16 grams heavier than the plastic one but with the awsome power to weight ratio that isnt much.thats pretty much nothing.as far as testing goes my buddy rich has currently been running one in his on a ys motor for the past 4 months or so and hasnt run into one problem with it.i will be running one on the new os91hz-ps motor.as far as coolong goes it should produce the same amount of cooling as the plastic one seeing as how its the same design.

I designed and made these fans that he is showing you here. Just thought that I would let you in on a little engine science. I used to build an roadrace motorcycles for a living so I do have some experience with engines. A heavier fan will actually produce more torque from your engine due to the fact that more mass is harder to change directions. While it is true that it will slightly reduce the horsepower, torque is ultimately what you want from your heli engine. The loss in horsepower just means that it might take slightly longer to spool your engine up, but who cares about that when you are looking for a constant head speed anyway. Keep in mind now that we are only talking about 14 grams difference. I have been running mine for a while and I don't notice any difference in how the engine spools up or performs.

It is also true that two stroke engines have a very narrow torque band and without putting it on a dyno, you really don't know whether your making more torque or not.

Nice piece of machine work, I will give you that.
