I spoke to Horizon about not being able to use the throttle as slave when mixing .They first said that they can fix this, but later that day said it is not possible on the dx6i.I pointed out that in the manual page 127 it states any channel can be used as master or slave and the photo showing an example actually shows the throttle as slave. They again said this is not possible on the dx6i and if I want this function I need to get a dx7.Is it just me or does something smell a bit fishy here

Does seem a bit wrong to tell someone it can do it then, the programming won't let you. This is bad for people who have to work it out on their own, you could spend hours trying to get it to mix and not work it out because you can't do it in the first place. They need to amend the instructions or change the programming to make it work.

Good luck

Or they should recall the faulty dx6i and fix it or offer the dx7 at a discount

Nothing sounds fishy. That would imply that there is a conspiracy on the part of Spektrum and Horizon to sell people the DX6i at a ridiculously low price, then force them to buy a DX7 to get what they really want.

The manual has a mistake in it. It would not be the first time, it will not be the last. It would also not be the first time that the tech writers who put out the manual got false information from the engineering or marketing department.

It's also not the first time that a tech at Horizon (or insert any other company here) initially gave out the wrong answer, then later corrected it.

I would seriously doubt that the sole reason you bought the DX6i was because you read the manual, saw that statement, and decided after reading THAT sentence, bought the radio. I would venture to guess that you didn't open the manual until after you got the radio installed, and then started to program it, and were unable to get the mix.

The manufacturer isn't on the hook for a discount of a DX7, they are not required to solve your problem.

If it's that big of a problem, sell the TX on eBay, buy a DX7 or other radio with the proceeds.

+1 for error in the manual. Happens all the time, it's not false advertising.
