Mmm,...yes,
It is no cheap hobby.
Sorry for your crash, next time do not plant the carb into the ground while crashing
Most of the time the feathering shaft/blade axle will bent in a crash.
Well,.... mine did.

Eric.

do these filters still have a choke?? So you can have a backup shutdown too like the stock one?

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

No choke, but you can get a choke in the carburetor if you get a Walbro WT 644.

This hobby is WAY too expensive!!

Thats why I have been real happy with the air filters from Dave's motors. You can buy the venturi with choke for the filter to go on. Works great!

I got the K&N airfilter in the other day and man is that thing heavy. The round adapter that bolts on the carb is solid aluminum(very heavy)and i'm thinking of putting it in my cnc mill and milling out the back side of it to loose weight. I don't think this will hurt the way it works but will surely make it lighter. Either way i'm going to run this on my heli,i have very BAD luck if it can happen it will happen to me,thats why i seem to know a little about the problems of flying.lol But you are right i do not run them on my nitro helis or my gas planes and so far so good. My luck is so bad a bird could be a mile away and take a dump and it would go in my carb, thats me you may be one of the lucky ones. I wish i could get by without it but i'm not going to try.

Here is a filter adopted from a Shindaiwa engine.Parts---Case #20000-81770 ,Wire Screen #20010-81760 and Filter #20000-81740.I had to make a base plate with a choke mechanism.
Note the black Nylatron NSM crown gear.

Well I don't know. All of the aftermarket filters look nice,,especially the ones you can't see.!!! I have heard no info the stock filter is robbing any power. So I will stick with the stock one with the choke to also shut down the motor if needed.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them
